Rather simple thread, this.

I basically need a list, or a link to one, of all the DnD plant monsters up to 40HD. The book they belong to would be a nice bonus (preferred, really).

I'm scanning the SRD for them, but I'm sure that there are many supplement ones.

Plant Monsters:
Assassin Vine (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/assassinVine.htm) (4HD)
Phantom Fungus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/phantomFungus.htm) (2HD)
Shambling Mound (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/shamblingMound.htm) (8HD)
Shrieker (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/fungus.htm) (2HD)
Tendriculos (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/tendriculos.htm) (9HD)
Treant (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/treant.htm) (7HD)
Violent Fungus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/fungus.htm) (2HD)

How can you not have Shambling Mound (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/shamblingMound.htm) on there? (8HD)

I think I actually just added it as you posted  Thanks!

Use this (http://www.d20srd.org/filters/monster.php). Select "type" - "plant", click "Filter". Looks like you got all the SRD ones though.

Hrm, the page that links to won't work for me. Listing it by plant keeps on returning no results...

O well :)

The Wizard's monster index. Here are the plants. Not with HD but at least the sourcebooks are given:

I'm a particular fan of Topiary Guardians, myself.

You do have all the SRD monsters, but for reference, the link has moved here (http://www.penpaperpixel.org/tools/d20monsterfilter/index.php).

Oh, and apparently it's "violet fungus", not violent. :smallamused:

Just officially published ones, or are homebrewed ones acceptable as well?

Homebrewed may be acceptable. I have to get it okay'd.

Essentially, I'm using a DM-homebrewed druid variant that can transform into plant types. It fits the flavor of the character nicely, so I'm trying to find good ones. The only real limit is it can't exceed my level*2 in HD. My character just hit level 5, so, 10HD is my current cap.

I don't want broken... but I want competitive :)

Then have your DM take a look at my Bliss Vine (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40812).

In fact, there are several high-quality plant monsters from the Monsters in the Playground (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3078147&postcount=32) project.

Vinespawn from MMV, is a fun plant monster.

Monster Manual V has a pretty neat-looking plant critter called the Verdant Reaver. I think it has 6HD.

Oh, and I just remembered this article (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fc/20070806a). The ones on it have class levels, but if you take those away you should be able to reverse-engineer the standard creature.

Looks like you got all the SRD ones though. Not quite. There's also awakened trees.

Some good suggestions, here...

I have the MMs at home, so once I'm there I can look into all of those. I doubt a druid can wildshape into a templated creature, though...

I basically get:
2HD animal form (Medium)
6HD plant form (Medium)
8HD plant form (Large)
10HD plant form (Huge)

The HD and sizes are maximums (Small is the constant minimum, though)
