1. A Modest Destiny
2. Kid Radd
3. Elf Only Inn
4. Life of Wily
5. Life of Bat Man
6. Chugworth Academy

Put in order of favourite to not-my-favourite-but-still-really-good. Order of The Stick though rounds them off as my all-time favourite.

Something Positive - a webcomic for your inner jerk. (http://www.somethingpositive.net/)

Von Hunter, Monster Hunter (http://www.vanvonhunter.com/vvh1.html) - Well, it came out long before Van Hellsing... the art gets WAY better, mind.

Choppingblock (www.choppingblock.org) - The whacky adventures of a serial killer.

The Devil's Panties (http://thedevilspanties.keenspace.com/) - It also has a Larping life version.

Donut Girls (http://www.uncreativity.com/donut/) - To say it's a magic girl parody would be inaccurate - it plays around, and pokes fun, at lots of genre cliche's...

Scary-go-round (http://www.scarygoround.com/) - Imagine what sluggy freelance would be like if it was funny. Or interesting.

As far as buzzcomix comics go - Angel2200 is great. Girly has that near surrealistic action non-sequetir humor down pat.

Squidi and count your sheep are neat as well.

Oh yeah - stuff that doesn't get updated... well... ever.. but is still cool:

Fallen (http://aido.furvect.com/fallen.htm) - All angels wear trenchcoats.

Hello Cthulhu (http://www.hello-cthulhu.com/?date=2003-11-30) - This is funnier for people who know what hello kitty is...

Arcana (http://arcana.keenspace.com/d/20020205.html) Ok, it's a bit yaoish, but fairly cool...

Mory's education (http://mory.keenspace.com/d/20010914.html) - Cause bligher, it's funny.

Own little world (http://www.nodachi.net/~archer/index.php?strip=1) - Best in/out of game gaming comic ever. Neat art, at that.

I think it's rather cool that Randy Milholland (Something Positive) managed to get enough PayPal donations that he was able to quit his job for a year (and he'll be putting up new strips every day as a result). Neil Gaiman even mentioned it in a speach he gave recently. Very cool.

I visit lots of Webcomics regulary - many of them have been posted already.

However one that I miss until now is: http://www.lustigesrollenspiel.de

Well most of it is German - but the MMORPG player-types are also available in English. The whole site is just great - those who can read German - check it out in anycase . Those who can't - If you play MMORPGs, check out the MMORPG(engl) section!

The other part features small one-shot strips with general RPG-related fun - sometimes RPGers and the surrounding world, sometimes RPG in-game jokes - and a lot of other stuff.

I decided to dig around in the lower parts of buzzcomix - the guys between 500 and 2000... just to see what they're up to.

Made a few interesting discoveries:

There are only 200 mega-man sprite comics in that whole lot.

A porn site advertisement made it in as a comic.

Krakow 2.0 and Twisted Kaiju Theatre are down there, even though I remember seeing them in the top 10...

Somebody actually made a comic based on the "Cereal Killers" pun. Predictably, it sucks.

But I also discovered a few comics - some that have potential to become pretty big, some that have pretty good art or look interesting, some that are fairly generic, but deserve more then a spot below the 1000...

Ok, I'm modifying this to look a bit more orderly:

Up and coming comics - comics I see a lot of potential in:

Star Booze (http://starbooze.keenspace.com/d/20040627.html) - A Cowboy Bebop inspired comic... sorta. Vote button is in the links section.

Cion (http://www.cion-comic.net/index.php?date=2004-02-05) - Rebllious Elf type fellow... bah, there's really not enough strips, but it looks neat and moves at a reasnoble pace.

Dealing With The Devil (http://www.dealingwiththedevil.com/comic/01.htm) - What would you do to get your life back?

Rose's Diary (http://www.rosesdiary.com/index.php?date=2004-09-03) - arr...I'm not sure what I see in it, but I have a hunch better things are coming.

Proffessional looking comics that already have a few strips in them and are lost to the depth of buzzcomix for one reason or another:

Lowrad 75 (http://lowroad75.keenspace.com/) - Wow. This is obvious top 10 material.

Pinky (http://www.drunkduck.com/Pinky_TA/?i=142723) - Very Heavy Metal 2000 style.

Eva's Escapades (http://www.kommiekomiks.com/evas_eskapader.htm) - It's only a side-branch of the artists main comics, but it has a Euro-noir feel to it... I really like the look.

Blood and the Art of Baking (http://www.bloodandtheartofbaking.com/) - A lebian vampire, baking, stuff... I only recommend this because the art style reminds me of One Night in the Lonesome November...

Yenny (http://www.drunkduck.com/Yenny/?i=108590) - A hot Latina. Her Pet Iguana. Mind, this is not the porn I was talking about earlier.

Opposite Cult (http://www.oppositesect.com/) - Your basic happy monkey cult comic.

Blade Kitten (http://www.bladekitten.com/kage_00.html) - Kawaiish bounty hunter kitten.

Sune (http://stormchild.com/sune.html) - Futuristic Bouny Hunterish

Note that a few of these don't have a buzzcomix vote button, even though they're on the list...

Duskrider_Moogle
2004-09-05, 01:32 AM
Among many others...

Spamusement (http://spamusement.com) - guy takes headers from spam emails and makes minimalist Far-Side-like cartoons from them. In a different way from OotS, these have made me laugh more than just about anything else - they hit that exact part of your brain that knows to laugh when something's just so weird you can't think of anything better to do. Part of it is because the subjects are real, which adds to the sheer absurdity of it all.

Xander77
2004-09-05, 08:13 AM
Stuff that lookes very proffesional but I didn't dig that much:

Retort (http://retort.rapturepress.com/issue0cover.html) - Nothing to say of the plot so far, neat comic style art though.

Hoo Cares (http://www.hoocares.com/comics/) - Dilbert in an HMO.

Basset Hound (http://www.bassetville.net/) - A lovable Basset Hound. Kawaii ::)

American Ambition (http://www.upcomics.com/comics.htm) - Freekazoid style art + generic dumb heroes humour.

GBH (http://www.razazulu.com/gbh/) - So far, we have a prisoner kicking a bully's ass, being knocked out by a guard, and having a flashback to the assassination that sent him to jail. Proffesional looking, but very bad site interface.

Fairly generic stuff that still doesn't deserve to languish below the 500 zone:

Wild Hunt (http://www.runewoods.com/wildhunt/) - An RPG comic. Certainly no shortage of those on buzz...

ScurvyDog (http://www.scurveydog.com/) - Yup, another D&D-ish comic.

Muffins 'n the hood (http://www.spidermuffinart.com/comic/) - Another "random insanity" comic, but I found it neat...

Fish (http://sylvan.dyndns.ws/fish.php?comicno=1) - What if VG cats were Fish?

Unlikely Heroes (http://www.unlikely-heroes.com/comic.php?id=20010510) - More genericness...

Beloved (http://www.drunkduck.com/Beloved/) - More world saving antics, I guess.

Metanoia (http://www.plethora.net/metanoia/template.cgi?1+00+1) - Yaoi, but interesting.

Just another wednesday (http://www.justanotherwednesday.com/) - Surprisingly decent for another Clerks/Penny Arcade rip-off.

The story is about a girl, a highway and death.

DrDoom

Oh, Death and Maiden is really a very good comic (and, yes, it does not stay the whole time on the highway, the plot moves on!) It is also availible in german. Oh, and the other comic from Nina (called "Nina") is also availible there (although only in german).

Questionablecontent.net is also very good (imho). I also enjoy Megatokyo and

There's....

Kagerou
Loserz
Squidi
Sluggy Freelance
Order of the Stick
It's Walky!
Altermeta
Angel Moxie
PvP
Least I Could Do
El Goonish Shive
RPG World

Isn't that interesting? ...I knew you would. I hope you're all taking notes because there'll be a short quiz next period.

12 Dragons
Megatokyo
Chugworth Academy
Captain SNES
Angels2200
GPF
Fallen
Bigger Than Cheeses
Sinfest
Heist (my comic!)
iLL wILL pRESS
H*R
Eskimo Bob
Red vs. Blue
Girly
Star Cross'd Destiny
The 10k Commotion
Slackers
StarSomething
Applegeeks
Ashes of the Fourth Wall
Asylum on 5th Street
Home of Ghost (my friend's comic!)

These are all the ones of which the news has come to Haaaaaarvaaaard...
There may be many others but they can't be remembered!

For those of you who don't know, Tom Lehrer was a political satirist in the 1950s and 60s. The Element Song collected all the elements currently known into a nice little ditty. Extremely entertaining.
