So there's a lady in our group who basically attends for the social aspects of the game rather than the actual gameplay, right? No problem there - so long as everyone's having fun, that's fine. The problem is that the class she's chosen to play is the single most needlessly complicated class I've ever seen: the True Freaking Necromancer. During our games, all she does is scan through her spell list, find things that sound interesting ("Ooh! 'Horrid Wilting'! I use that.'), and leave the actual figuring-out-what-the-spells-do to the rest of us.
She also has a tendency to summon single zombies to fight giant bosses.
The class really isn't a good fit for her, so what we're planning to do is give her a character that retains the flavor she's after but better suits her playing style. Ideally, that would mean a necromancer-type who doesn't have any spells - maybe Warlock-style invocations would be the ticket - and a beefy zombie or two who level with her and can be summoned and dismissed at will. Can anyone here offer some ideas?
