Help with bard build.

Yeah, I want to make a bard build that fights with two rapiers. How can I make this probable at level 6? The problems I see are low bab or low spell casting.

Core only.

I'm limited to 28 point buy and not being fully optimized doesn't bother me.

Take the DEX up to at least 15 and then take 2 weapon fighting. It might not help much, but it does help.
STR to, that would help with the low BAB, but, I don't think you really can have a normal BAB at level 6, not AND be able to cast REALLY good spells....
I don't know, tell me if this helps, but I'm afraid it won't.

I mean halfway optimised. The way I see it, I'll be left with 16 in both dex and charisma. Is multi classing to Fighter going to damage my spell count and use?

umm, well, fighters don't get spells at all, so, yeah, I think it would.
Unless you take a few levels of sorcerer, but then, it wouldn't level out for many, many levels...
EDIT: sorry, didn't see that last part, no, it won't affect your spell count. It also, WON'T affect your spell count, as in, give you any more.
That makes no sense, let me try again.
Fighter, good BAB and HP. No spells, so those stay the same.
Fighters also get free feats, so, I'd take at least a few levels of fighter.
