This triggers a readied action by Bishop_Oz. However, the indicated position he wanted to move to is currently occupied, thus I leave it to him to decide if he simply moves to the closest square possible or remains where he is.

I take total cover behind my Crystal Tower Shield.

<I guess that's what happens anyway *shrug* and I think that Paladin Latham was reffering to your current position which is occupied by a tree, though I think you can occupy the same space as one of these trees if my memory is working in the errata for this map.>

Sooo while I'm waiting for some info from the ref staff, I'll just set up my planned actions tentatively. If I don't get an answer by tomorrow morning I guess my actions set forth here will stand and it'll be your turn. Is that okay with you?

Lichen Mossweaver - Round 3 ... GO!
For the refs:
I will ready the following actions in the event that I hear or see Fire Fox casting a spell. I will as a free action drop my tower shield into J-25, as part of my move action I will move to I-24 whilst readying my bow and attack Fire Fox.

@Bishop

Smokesticks dissipate "naturally", which of course is an undefined length of time. However, wind is typically the culprit of this dissipation, and since our arenas are windless by default, that smoke will be there for the duration of this fight at the very least.

I am indeed, though I did make an assumption on the move action that Fire Fox was still in the vicinity of I-10 (I'd move in the direction I'd heard him casting from more or less). Though it seems as though I can't ready all three? If I cannot ready all three then I'll take the first two, (Drop the shield and brake cover whilst readying my bow) then have my attack readied in response to Fox beginning to cast a spell and suffer the consequences!

I believe LoS was mis-called in Round 2 (post #16). I will now attempt to cast Summon Ref II to verify and if necessary rewind to allow Lichen to change her round 3 action.

@refsDespite the smoke (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3993799&postcount=14) in I25-J26, Lichen in I25 has LoS to Fire Fox in G21. Right?

@refs

That depends. Does LoS have to pass through more than 1 square of smoke? If not, then yes, I think so.

Ref Talic

@Refs:

When smoke was popped, Opponents were in G15 and J26. Smoke covered I/J,25/26. For opponent in G15, square J25 had concealment (20%), and J26 had total concealment. After smoke was popped, opponent hid, and moved to J25. Lack of LoS provided the opportunity to hide, concealment allows hide to continue.

By the way I see the description of Obscuring Mist, that seems correct.

EDIT: Ah, the other way. Grr, I hate misreading questions. I think you're right, yeah.

Maurkov
2008-03-03, 09:31 AM
@refsIn addition, since you can trace LoS from any corner, you get to ignore your own smokey square. I don't think Lichen's LoS was ever broken. Short answer, yes, Lichen had LoS at the end of round 2.

So, back to the end of round 2:

@Fire FoxNo LoS.

@Lichen MossweaverFire Fox moved to G21 and appears to be waiting for something
It is Lichen's turn at the top of round 3.

Could I get a ref to answer this?

Ref Talic

@Theterran:

By the rules of readied actions, you cannot perform a readied action on your turn. This means that, on your opponent's turn, when he gains LOE during his turn, he cannot take a readied action. Your readied action will go off, and he cannot interrupt it, as he cannot take a readied action.

Whether his post means that he readied an action to fire, or he is merely preparing to fire is irrelevant. He cannot attack prior to your Firebolt, provided that it is being performed during his turn.

Afterwards, if he chooses to attack, and you have not used an immediate action this turn, and are aware of the attack, I see no rule that prevents you from using your ability.

Bishop Oz:
As ruled by Kyeudo in other matches, Readied actions cannot be taken during your turn (per first sentence in SRD entry for Ready an Action).

When you took the 5 foot step that triggered your opponent's readied action, it was still your turn, and as such, you are unable to make a readied action.
@ Bishop Oz:
As your opponent will act slightly prior to your next action, your readied action will remain in effect until your next turn.

theterran

If that's the case, then isn't he dead? Even with the Ref save, he still takes 11, and according to his sheet, he only has 8 HP.

@Theterran:
If you believe your opponent dead, by all means, get a high ref to verify and call the match. It's beyond my power as a ref to do such things. By what I see, however, it certainly LOOKS like you've reduced your opponent to -3.
