Roy called Shojo an octogenarian, meaning he was 80-89. Shojo has claimed to have been the ruler of the Sapphire guard for 47 years (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0277.html), which would make him 33-42 when he started ruling.

However, according to the late ruler himself, Shojo's age category (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0288.html) can still advance, meaning he'd be (most likely) in the Old (53-70) age category, which would have made him 6-23 when he started ruling.

So... which of these two possibilities do you feel is more likely/more true/more plausible/more funny? Or is it something different altogether?

I think Shojo just wanted to point Roy his slownesses rather than he can actually advenve to another age caterogy.

Also, Roy doesn't know how old Shojo actually is, right? "Octegenarian" might be a guess based on his appearence.

We know that Shojo wasn't 80 or above.

Soon discovered the rift sixty-six years ago (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0276.html)
Soon passed command of the Sapphire Guard (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0277.html) to Shojo's father some time later (hard to guess Soon's actual age from the Crayons of Time section).

Therefore, it is safe to say that Shojo wasn't born fourteen years before the rifts were even discovered (which would be required to hit the eighty-year old mark) and, instead, is likely in his fifties or sixties.

Shojo was actually immortal due to an accidental 'going back in time and altering the fabric of causality' mishap.

If not outright hyperbole given the situation.
Shojo is rather spry for an octogenarian, after all.

Dang, we have a thread that settled such points pretty well, but the history threat has slipped off the page and I can't recall name nor much else.
Anyone able to link to it?
