View Full Version : Need a Name

I recently finished a documentary on gaming, focusing mainly on Dungeons & Dragons and old World of Darkness for my Video Production class. Well, my professor came up to me today and requested my permission it enter it in a local media festival. Here's the issue; I haven’t named the piece yet and I have no ideas. The film focuses mostly on the people who play, not the games the selves, and pits out that despite many myths ad misconceptions, we are normal, everyday people (during the credit roll there are interviews with all the players, saying their name, their character and some 'normal' fact about themselves.

Sorry about the rant, anyone good with catchy names and care to help?

That's all my frazzled brain has at the moment. Let us know what you end up going with and where we might be able to see the film!

Where's the Mountain Dew?
I attack the darkness!

And for a classier title...

If the whole world's a stage... these are your actors.

AKA_Bait: I like Pizza and Mountain Dew & Weekend Heroes
SamTheCleric: If the whole world's a stage... these are your actors.

I'd use the "I attack the Darkness" but I don’t think the crowd would quite get the joke, a funny side note though is that my D&D group has had to use that tactic on at least fur occasions.

It main issue about naming it after the D&D troupe is that it shows footage of a D&D game as well as a Werewolf: The Wyld West game.

Shameless Plug - Would anyone care to see it (about 4:30 long) if I can get it online?

Yes. I would, and I imagine quite a few others. Just use YouTube.

SamTheCleric:"Roll for Initiative!" = awsome, but i don't think the target audiece would quite get it.

Dukeof URL: "Pen, Paper, and Perils" is another good one.

I'm going to take the film home in the next hour or so and upload it there. I'm hoping the thread stays alive until then

You can borrow the name my freshman english prof suggested for my paper on LARPing: Role Play or Real Play. Yeah, it's kinda cheesy, but whatever.

Roleplaying - It's not just for the bedroom anymore.

Nerds at play - Know thy enemy

Geeks and grownups - Separated at birth? You decide.

I attack the dorkness!

Humans, Halfings, and Dwarves Oh My!

Embracing Abstinence - How a simple game will keep you free from STDs for ever!

Great! Keep them coming. The video is uploading onto YouTube now, so it'll just be a few minutes before I have a link for you.

Since I can't actually make out what is being said, I cannot give any critique.

I find this most dissapointing, as I was curious.

Yeah, you probably should up the narration volume. I watched the first half of it with the youtube volume and my speaker volume at max and I still couldn't make out more than one out of every 10 words.

I'd go with "Attacking the Darkness." If you don't know what is means, it sounds vaguely heroic. If you do know what it means, it's hilarious.

Incidentally, I'm making a Powerpoint presentation for a computing class that is supposed to pitch a hobby group to the college for funding. Not an actual group, but the assignment is supposed to be a proposal of sorts.

The title I've chosen for the presentation is "Attacking the Darkness".

Sorry about the volume, tomorrow I'll try to tweak it and upload a finished copy of the film.

Thiel: Thanks for pointing that out, I'll be sure to double check it in the final draft.
