I was wondering if anyone ever had a favorite webcomic that was orphaned (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OrphanedSeries)

mine are rpg world (http://www.rpgworldcomic.com/), 8 easy bits (http://www.8easybits.net/comic/daily.php?date=070920)(wich seems to have been un canceled (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UnCanceled?from=Main.UnCancelled)), and oriosis edge (http://www.ansemretort.org/index.php)

anyway, any webcomics you used to read just go in infinite hiatus, care to list them?

EDIT:oh wait, 8 easy bits is back on hiatus...:smallannoyed:

MacHall (http://www.machall.com/) became Three Panel Soul (http://www.threepanelsoul.com/)

I heard that Bob and George was finished.

If we are talking about finished webcomics, then I cannot recommend Kidd Rad (http://home.att.net/~miller.daniel.r/) highly enough. Once it gets past the introductory portion the story is amazing (and it ended very well).

I also liked Roomies!/Itswalky! (http://www.itswalky.com/index.html), which became Shortpacked!, and Concerned (http://www.hlcomic.com/), which got me to finally finish Half-Life 2.

DM of the Rings, and Bob and George. Jeeze those were good.

Hopefully you've been following along the new comic by the creator of DM of the Rings. It's currently near the very end of a planned one-month break, but typically runs quite strong. It's called 'Chainmail Bikini: the Nightmarish Legend of Deuse Baaj'. I'd link it, but that wouldn't really be appropriate since it's not dead. It has its own thread in this particular part of the forum, though.

Dear God PLEASE do NOT click that link if you're at work, at school, or under the age of 754.
SL is a hilarious comic, but... well... it made the use of the sound effect "Fap-Fap-Fap" famous across the entire internet, and was the inspiration behind Ghastly's Ghastly Comic. (http://www.ghastlycomic.com/) It's not to be considered anything like Work- or Child-Safe.

Yeah... I so second those two, both its greatness and its NOT SAFE FOR WORK... WHY DONT THEY BELIVE ME !?
Im almost weekly mad at Ghastly to switching his attentions to Qwerky, whatever she is. At least the Sexy Losers author got medical issues IIRC.
I go back and cruise their archives when I am feeling down, and end up laughing in an eery and creepy manner. But I am a sick puppy, this may not appeal to anyone.

Also in the safer for work department, Loserz (both the western one with the Dork, the Nerd and the Slut... and the one made by that guy from Singapore. Havn't found his work in quite a while though)

In the category "already mentioned", Elf Only Inn, RPG world and Mixed myth.

Edit: just came in from reading a newly found comic, only to find out that the author cancelled it last year with the note he will never restart it. But the comic is simply amazing http://hell-transit-heaven.com/mainENG.html

I second (third, fourth, whatever) RPG World and Sexy Losers as well.
I also concur that the DMotR and Concerned were awesome, but those did not die, they simply ran their natural course and finished in time, which is the best end imaginable for a webcomic.
And I do not agree that Darths and Droids is worse than DMotR; personally, I like it quite a lot more, because I can at least somewhat relate to the Darths and Droids group, as opposed to the utterly alien DMotR munchkins.

Another, probably more obscure comic I liked a lot that suffered an untimely death was Number 000 Blues (I think not even the archives are online anymore); that was yet another sprite comic retelling the story of the Mega Man games, but distinguished from the sea of bad to mediocre members of this specific genre by having quite memorable characters and a tight and interesting plot, as well as going for genuine drama instead of random humour and stupidity.

I think originally there had been some plans to keep the archives online and have fans do something with the material, I'm not too certain about the details, but it seems that project never lifted off either, and now there is no more trace of it.

Sexy Losers is updating occasionally now.

Um I agree with several of the choices as for a comic that hasn't been listed...

How about Legendary (http://legendary.comicgenesis.com/)? SStop obsessing about Dominic Deagen and get back to work ElfLAd, ya lazy bum :P

I think it's a mark of a good comic that even though it's incomplete I don't mind not knowing what will happen and reread it on occasion. Lots of the strips are really gold and when it went random it had lots of great jokes.

Well, for an actual complete comic that I have not seen mentioned here before, how about ADVENTURES! (http://www.adventurers-comic.com/). The art it really, really rough for a long time. It's bad enough to turn people off but he improved and ended up writing a very long story based on RPG mechanics. Of course most people that know about RPG world know about Adventures too.

You guys know about Queen of Wands (http://www.queenofwands.net/d/20060611.html) right?

Um. Try Shooting War (http://shootingwar.com/webcomic/). It's a comic in the present day about war and how one Reporter life is affected. Great artwork and compelling twists.

Yeah, could someone explain just what the heck happened there. I know it's supposed to be plots within plots and double edged people with double edged lives, but seriously, I was following just fine and then everyone dies. WTF?

I take it you've never played Metal Gear Solid? ;) Try the Wikipedia link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_gear_solid#Plot). To summarize - all of the events of the comic were designed as a prequel to the first Metal Gear Solid game. (Minor spoiler, but it's been ages and not really very surprising, so...) By the end of that game, everyone in FOXHOUND is dead except for Ocelot, who comes back in MGS4.

I also miss Chainmail Bikini. Though there must be some other film that deserves the DMotR/D&D treatment?

It's not a dead comic, but it is directly inspired by DMotR.

once again, i'll second RPG world

Best. Comic. Ever. I seriously tear up when i realize that it'll never be concluded.

Karnak was also a great one, though its randomness and lack of a true plot makes it easier to bear.
At the very least, it doesn't run the risk of ending like bob and george. I may get flamed for this, but its final month of comics was the most dissapointing thing i have ever read :(

Well Last Days of FOXHOUND is a webcomic about the events of the "bad guys" prior to Metal Gear Solid (and doing a real good job explaining what happens and fills in logically, kinda, what might have happened). When the storyline caught up to the published game (where the bad guys were killed by Solid Snake, by the player) the story kinda ends.

While I don't have any problem with it ending, I hope that in a not too far off future, the author continues to draw down the events during the Metal Gear Solid 1-4 series. Granted there be problems, Very strange storyline (moreso then Last Days of FOXHOUND), a finished story with little room for creativity, spoilers of the games and possibly issues with copyrighted material.

There would be alot of people who would want to make sense of MGS series.:smallsigh:

On another note... I still have not forgiven Ghastly for stopping his webcomic... And Sexylosers though he got problems physically to draw. Still miss those webcomix that can turn pretty much any day to a win for me.
