Not saying I'd want to live here, but I just spent the day at Sea World and had an absolute blast! Even better, we're going back again on Monday. I got to see dolphins and manatees and small crocs and sea turtles and killer whales and more. The shows were barely cheesy at all, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, I totally went into the wrong line of work. I should have gotten a degree in Swimming with Fishes. The dolphin and killer whale work looked like a lot of fun.

Pics later, once I download them.

Unless you're a shark.. then they're definitely Killer Whales.

Hmm.. Swimming with Fishes Degree... could be interesting :smallwink:

Did you ever notice that the places that everyone is dying to visit are often places that would be sub-par to live in? Maybe there's a connection....

Wow. The Sea World sounds really fun. Anyone get eaten this year?:smallconfused:

"Killer Whales?" Geez, they're orcas.:smallannoyed: Get it right.:smallwink:Sorry (http://www.acsonline.org/factpack/KillerWhale.htm), but Killer Whale (http://www.adfg.state.ak.us/pubs/notebook/marine/orca.php) is an apt description and has long been a valid term for the Orca. Just because it offends delicate ears, does not make it the wrong name for them. I suppose you want me to call it a Chinook, instead of the common name of King Salmon as well.:smallamused:

Anyway, some of my favorite pics:

AWESOME!

When I was in grade 6 I went to a sea world like place here and saw the shows. But I had the distinct feeling that I just watching the shows wasn't good enough. I quickly realized I wanted to do the shows, to be the person swimming with the fishes. What followed was the path to the Swimming with Fishes Degree, slightly modified to be a Hanging out with all the cool critters Degree. So you could say I know the feeling. :smallwink:

Keep loading more pictures! That dolphin on is really nice, and of course the crocs are cuties.

Sea World is ok. If I'm going to make a trip down to Orlando, I'm going to Disney World.

Yes. . .Yes, there is. . .it's called "trying to commute on the same road with 1043249847325 lost tourists". Nobody lives on the Kissimmee side of town if they can help it.

What's the weekend plans, MegaCon?

I live just an hour away from O-Town as we call it locally. I was just there last night for a concert. Kind of cool to live next to places that people travel from all over the world to see, but kind of lame at the same time. Being 21 makes me wish it had more of a club/live music scene, though.

I was going to post the following this morning, but the internet crapped out on me.

What's the weekend plans, MegaCon?I lived in Las Vegas for 5 years and loved every minute of it. Well, with the exception of a bad break-up, anyway. I can't see any reason why one would not like the area. It's warm year round and there's always something to do. As for Orlando, It's a nice enough town, if a little confusing with their roads. I'm just not that interested in living on the east coast, is all.

Going to the beach today. Also planning a visit to a Croc place thingy. Hoping for some impressive pics.

Anyway, the beach was very windy and we had sand blasted into our various exposed orifices, but it was still fun. I picked up a few black shells that looked cool. Then we went to the alligator farm in St Augustine. I took quite a few pics, which I will post later(once I manage to download them). We missed the huge croc feeding by a couple hours. Woulda been cool, but oh well. After that, it was off to see the local Spanish fort, the Castillo de San Marcos. I had to duck through almost every doorway. Those Spaniards were short.

Ugh, now I'm having flashbacks. The only times I've ever seriously considered harming another driver have all occurred on the I-4 stretch between the Sand Lake and Disney exits. On the plus side, I've never been particularly bothered by the traffic anywhere else I've lived as a result.

Not been to the Orlando Sea World, but been to the one in San Antonio several times, and it was always fun, my favourite show is usually the sea lions one. Got family in Orlando though, probably should find a time to visit them again sometime and hit Sea World, and all the Disney's again.

been 2 days in Orlando. missed the launch of a shuttle by hours, and got rained all over, so I never mustered up the energy and determination to go to the kennedy space center as I intended to.
very nice pubs and block party, though, in the evening.

I've been to the Sea World in CA, but not Orlando. Back when I was a kid.

They had a seafood restaurant in the middle of it. :smalleek:

I love living in Florida. :) I live where (most) people love to come on vacation. Humidity kinda sucks, but I love never being more than an hour and a half from a beach (literally, you are always within an hour and a half of a beach). When my ex was visiting from New Jersey I was complaining about the horrid combination of heat and humidity and he goes,

"You live in paradise."
"No I don't."
"*points to the resident flock of parrots* You have parrots in your neighborhood, you live in paradise."

Weird thing? Only my boyfriend and I, out of our group of friends, wants to stay in Florida. :(

Cheers,
Syka

I remember seeing Shamu back in 2004. My family were in the 'wet zone' and hadn't taken it too seriously (what's the worst that'll happen? A little splash or two). My father was enjoying himself with his new digital camera that he'd gotten as a birthday present a few weeks prior, just before we left for holidays...it got waterlogged, but, fortunatly, it was just a bit in the screen view bit, so for a few hours we had trouble seeing pictures, and were worried about the entire thing shorting out permanatly.

How'd your camera turn out?

How'd your camera turn out?I knew it was coming, so I snapped the shot, and immediately bent over my camera to protect it. I didn't actually get as soaked as I expected, but there was a lot of water flying about. My mom, who was two seats to the left of me, didn't even get wet, which is good, since her camera's one of the 'spensive ones.

Syka It's definitely paradise-ish, but the potential for house flattening wind tends to make me wary of living there. Plus, no place can be true paradise without mountains.

Hence Costa Rica. But I don't think there is snow on their mountains. Just cloud rain forests. *Dreams*

What? It could happen. I have a brother who's that tall. Okay, he weighs a buck fifty, but he's still tall.

Sounds like Seattle...I love visiting, but defiantly wouldn't want to live there.

Considered it for a while, though, when I had gotten tired of AZ, but it's where my friends and family are.

Also considered Cheyenne, but I HATE the cold, and the winters are enough to make me stay inside for 4 months straight.
