418 and 420 are good. I'll take 418 for the punchline.

Argh! This is tough! They were all good strips! I'm tempted to choose 418, if only because it inspired so many dirty jokes on this forum (:smalltongue:), but I'm going with 419, for I love Sabine. 'Cause you know, there's friendly contact with an evil outsider, and then there's "friendly contact with an evil outsider." Know what I mean? :smallwink:

Remirach

Hinjo's junk will probably run away with it, but I'll vote for 416 anyway.

On a per page rate, I'd go with 419, but 420 is a large total and so I vote 420

419.....my favorite fallen Miko moment.

I'm gonna have to go with 419.

Did Yendor actually mean 417?

Ooh, hard one this time....

I'll go with 419, but it was close.

Hmm, tough choice between 418, 419, and 420. I think I'll go for 418 because it actually made me smile.

This is a tough one, but I think I'll go for 416, because seeing the plan Redcloak came up with here is just to awesome to be ignored.

oh man this is tough. 417 or 418. 417, i wish i had a girlfriend that would do this...:smallfrown:

416 because of the exchange between the two of them

Bluejedi

Have to go with 418, it starts as corny and moves to hilarious.

Ooh, a tough one. Lots of good gags and one rather touching moment. But I'm going to have to give it to 418 because a good old-fashioned Hurricane of Puns (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HurricaneOfPuns). And, of course, the punchline is one of the best lines in the strip.

I feel bad about giving some of the others, especially 416, short shrift in this vote, but I stand by my choice.

A stong set again, but not unbeatable!

416 is a strong start - RedCloak really coming into his own at last and what's not to like about acid-spitting beetle infested pies!

417 is one of those wonderful (if sentimental) reality checks that would lose their effect if played too often, but the Giant manages to pull off just right.

418 was lost on me, as I only knew of 'Junk' as the boat, and double-entendres are not the same when you must reverse engineer them. Oddly enough, I remember catching some late 80s teen movie using this second meaning only a week or so after the strip, that would have been lost on me otherwise! Still no vote though!

419 has always been one of my favourite Miko strips, and nicely splits with the commentary from Belkar and the linear guild, although Belkar clearly gets the best lines and steals my vote for this round.

420 would clearly have stolen my vote in many other contests, playong on Roy as fighter-with-brains screwing up for such a simple reason (and really, with a protege lawyer for girlfriend he should have known better!) but is not quite strong enough to best 419.

So 419 for the win!

...and then there's "friendly contact" with a vote for 419. Know what I mean?

418, definitely. 'Cause everyone loves Hinjo's junk.

419. Love the irredeemable Belkar and Miko's attitude towards Sabine even more.

419, it is the only Miko strip where i liked her.

kukn
2008-03-14, 07:51 AM
Touhg choice here. Would like to choose Redcloak and Xykon, or Roy's legal slip-up, or Haley's reality check, or Hinjo's amazing junk...

I'll go for 416, because the rest are more of a 1-joke type. Must say that 419 getting so many votes surprises me, because I find that the weakest of the group.

Vargtass

It's a tie for me, so (tosses coin) 419 gets the vote.

Another vote for 419.

Jarwy

It's so difficult decision. So many good comics in this group.

Anyway, yeah, tough call, but it's all about strategy. 416 gets my vote.

I'll go for 418. It didn't make me laugh much (I'm British and we use different euphemisms), but for the effect it had on the forums.

Tough decision... I'm enough of a Hinjo/Lien shipper (pun retroactively intended) to root for 418, but then again, like Belkar, I really relish the sight of Miko waking up in a prison cell.

I'll have to get back to this one.

420 as the joke in there is far more developed from the beggining and made a better impact while the jokes in 418 were pretty funny (near hilarious), but it doesn't make it.

Does Nazzo want to extend the voting a while? Because the board got flooded with 539-related threads while this was going on, and this thread got a bit more buried than normal as a result. No votes or bumps since Friday, fewer votes than normal overall.

I'm a bit less surprised than kukn that 419 is leading, in part because a lot of people say it's very close. That shows in the vote totals, as the other four strips are separated by four votes from 3 to 6, suggesting the main reason 419 is leading is that the other strips are cannibalizing one another. That may turn into a pattern this hundred.

421 is definitely going to receive several votes, no question. 422 will get votes from members of the webcomic museum, 423 will get votes for the science lesson, 424 will get votes from the pro-V crowd, and... 425 seems like the runt to me but I could be wrong. I expect 421 and 424 to battle it out, though one of them could run away with it, and for all I know it could be a repeat of this round.

I expect 421 and 424 to battle it out...Except that the pro-V crowd is probably also the demographic that would most appreciate the science lesson. I expect that 423 and 424 are going to be stealing votes from each other.

Kuhn, different people like different things. I think 418 is the weakest of the group, but then, because the word "junk" isn't a common term in Australia, it just wasn't funny to me. I got what it meant from context, but it wasn't funny.

If true, that would mean 421 would run away with it, but I'm not 100% convinced; there might be some overlap, but how much? There's not much that would surprise me, to be honest, other than 425 running away in a landslide.

If true, that would mean 421 would run away with it, but I'm not 100% convinced; there might be some overlap, but how much? There exists exactly one way to find the answer to that question. I'm not certain, either: We'll have to wait and see.

All I can say is, I'm a fan of Vaarsuvius because e's a nerd, but Redcloak is an even bigger nerd. Others might have different reasons for their fandom.
