Ok, this is the official Texas Hold 'em thread for SMBG.

This is way things will work. At the beginning of each hand I will PM each player their two-card hand. Please DO NOT reply to that PM, it will just clutter my inbox unnecessarily.

The players will then put in their ante, plus their blind (small or big). The player with the "dealer chip" always bets last, and the two people to the "left" of him are the small blind and the big blind respectively. If you are either blind, I will automatically put your chips in the pot. Everyone else has to put in an ante too, but that will be automatic as well.

I will be using a random card generator which remembers what cards have been drawn, so it's just like a real deck.

There will be a round of bets, starting with the small blind (or person to the "left" of the dealer), after the hands have been dealt (but before the flop), then after the flop, then another after the turn card, then finally the last round of bets after the river.

If any of those terms are unfamiliar to you, I suggest you look them up (google works, so does wikipedia) because I will be using them the whole time.

This means we need two more people! Sign up and lets get this rolling!

Other info: everyone will start out with 300 "chips." the ante will be 2, the small blind 5 and the big blind 8. In order to be in for a round you must call (match) the big blind blind since its (usually) the highest bet for the first round.

Alright, I would like my four people who are automatically in to post in here, saying they still want to play. I also want them to post a number between 1 and 10, no repetitions. This will determine who gets the dealer chip first and the order everyone "sits" around the "table."

So any other questions or point I need to clarify?

Its an ante. You pay it, or you don't get your cards for that round. The reason is twofold: A) It prevents people from continously folding when they have only a few chips left (like the blinds, but smaller and more widespread) and B) Helps to move the game along faster.

The game is rather high stakes... if everyone calls the first round there are 60 chips in the pot and you only start out with 300.

Right, you started betting but Ascobol raised, so you have to call or raise (as you did) and now everyone has to call or raise... the betting round must be fully resolved until a flop can be seen. So everyone must owe the pot nothing (as I show with the little dash ( - )

one more I've had big disputes over: what happens if the table wins? split pot? so what if someone's all in and two others have a side bet, and the table wins?

As long as the round ends on a call, then I will reveal all of the involved players hands and say who won. If it ends on someone folding, I will not reveal any hands.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "the table wins", really. Do you mean a tie?

yes a tie, like one has a pair of aces and so does the other,

but more importantly: everyone has one pair, and there is a flush on the table.

I've been in games where that would be a spilt pot, because "the table" won. It caused some really confusing situations

my all in on a tie question still stands

If the table wins and there are no extenuating cirumstances than the pot is split evenly. If the pot cannot be split evenly, the remainder will be tossed out because I am not dealing with fractions.

If someone is all-in and players have matched the all-in bet, plus made a side bet and the table wins: The all-in pot will be split amongst the players (meaning everyone gets their money back) and the side-bet will be evenly split amognst the people who made the side bet.
