So I've been going back through from comic one and have been thinking of the famous people I hear in my head for each characters voice. I figure there's one of these for just every cartoon/book/video game and I haven't seen one around here... So here's mine...

Roy - Jonathan Frakes
Elan - Harry Connick Jr.
Haley - Reese Witherspoon
V - Sarah Silverman
Belkar - Fred Savage
Durkon - James Doohan (most of the dwarves actually)
Roy's Dad - Patrick Stewart
Xykon - James Earl Jones
Redcloak - Matt Damon
MitD - Christopher Walken
Celia - Alyssa Milano
Nale - Nathon Fillion
Sabine - Gina Torres

I think that there are better suited actors for the voices than that. I mean, Walken as MitD? Silverman as V? I love her but come on.

You know what I think? I think you posted the same thread three times. :smalltongue:

I'd go with

Roy - Will Smith
Elan - Michael Cera
Haley - Keira Knightley
V - Leonard Nimoy. Maybe not a particularly androgynous voice, but come on!
Belkar - Jim Carrey. He makes a good crazy guy.
Durkon - Sean Connery. Doohan's good, but he's also dead.
Roy's Dad - Tom Hanks
Xykon - James Earl Jones. I'm keeping this one for the awesome factor.
Redcloak - Hugo Weaving
MitD - Christopher Walken. Also for the awesome factor.
Celia - Scarlett Johansson
Nale - Alan Rickman
Sabine - Angelina Jolie

My personal interpretations, arguable as they are:

Roy - Bruce Willis
Elan - Steven Baldwin
Haley - Michelle Rodriguez
V - Kennedy
Belkar - Bruce Campbell
Durkon - John Rhys-Davies (cliche I know)
Roy's Dad - Sean Connery
Xykon - The Cryptkeeper
Redcloak - Laurence Fishburne
MitD - Bobcat Goldthwait
Celia - Sarah Jessica Parker
Nale - Kelsey Grammer
Sabine - Angelina Jolie

Monty, I like your pick but Walken seem to ummmm....old to do MitD's voice. I envisioned MitD as being a very juvenile voice.

You have a significantly different vision of Oots than I. Those choices disgust, nay - anger me!

lol.

Elan - Steven Baldwin
Haley - Michelle Rodriguez
V - Kennedy
Belkar - Bruce Campbell
Durkon - John Rhys-Davies (cliche I know)
Roy's Dad - Sean Connery
Xykon - The Cryptkeeper

Nale - Kelsey Grammer
Sabine - Angelina Jolie

This I like, although I'm ambivalent towards Laurence Fishburne for Redcloak.

Ooh, what about Jason Lee as Nale?

If Oots was an animated series, this would be my Team Evil

Xykon - John Clease (Come one, think of the line "I just regrew a finger, guess which one" and tell me that this isn't perfect)
Redcloak - Simon Pegg (Speaks for itself, really)
MitD - Callum Blue (of Dead Like Me fame. He plays the lovable idiot so well)
Tsukiko - Kathy Coppola (From the band Circle Takes the Square. She as a really great voice, and it's perfect for this role.)

Team Evil looks pretty good Master Axel. LOL, Redcloak of the Dead; "Omigod, there's zombies everywhere, what do we do?
"Umm... I'll rebuke them."

Sorry bout that I was at work and the computer got all laggy as they sometimes do! I swore I only pushed it once though. Oh well. Perhaps a mod could delete the other 2?

I think MitD would sound vaguely like the Squeaky-Voiced Teen from The Simpsons. Elan and Nale would have very similar voices that would be able to fill in as suave villain, debonair hero, and juvenile whiny "are we there yet?" brat all at once. And to really do V justice, you'd need to give him/her a voice that could sound either male or female, which is tough to do while staying adult.

I decided to take a stab at the order.

Roy - I'm going to have to agree with Bruce Willis. I mean, come ON!
Haley - Anna Belknap (You know, Lindsay from CSI:NY. Am I the only person who likes that show?)
Elan - Alan Tudyk (What?)
Belkar - Johnny Depp (a la Sweeny Todd post-"Epiphany")
V - I really have no idea.
Durkon - Christopher Lee seems like a good choice to me.

That is the first voice actor list I've ever liked, and you are more than right, that Xykon line with Clease's voice, its too perfect, even though I hadn't thought of him before hand.

Here's my choices:

Roy: Donald Faison
Elan: Whoever does the voice of Xandir on Drawn Together. I know Elan's not gay, but still...
Haley: Amanda Bynes
V: Just a gender-neutral voice, that echoes like Dr. Orpheus' when dramatic
Belkar: Maybe Wallace Shawn
Durkon: Billy Connolly
Roy's Dad: Morgan Freeman
Xykon: When he was human, Hugh Laurie from House. As a lich, a Christopher Lee soundalike.
Redcloak: Gotta go with David Spade
MitD: I know Lorenzo Music is dead, so I'll just say Bill Murray.
Nale: Most of the time, he talks in the traditional evil genius/James Bond villain-style voice, much like Hans Gruber. But when he panics, he's got a screechy "Weird Al" Yankovic/Barney Fife tone.
Thog: Ed from "Ed, Edd and Eddy."

I think Hugh Laurie could do both.

V - ironically - I think would be suited by Hugo Weaving doing V from V for Vendetta's voice, but a bit higher pitched.

I think Johnny Depp could suit RC. Jack Black would work for Belkar.

twins have identical voices you guys. otherwise, don't you think someone would have noticed when nale took elan's place on the team? you would need someone who can do 1)childish/naive tone for elan (a good singing voice is also necessary I guess...) and 2)cunning/evil tone for nale. judging by his work on the simpsons (sideshow bob), kelsey grammar would make a good nale, but I don't think he could do elan.

You really can't go wrong with putting John Cleese into a world like OotS.

And of course, on that note, I think we all know how the polearms shopkeeper (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0136.html) sounded, eh?

Beyond that, I don't have any particular "internal voice cast" here.

That's why I'm saying Alan Tudyk. He can sound evil. His is an evil laugh.

Ahh, no love for the Johnny Depp Belkar. :smallfrown:
I find the biggest problem with Belkar is people go for the "ha ha ha, I'm so crazy. Look at how crazy I am." kind of person. And Belkar isn't really like that. Sure, he's a chaotic, raging sociopath who would kill you for the fun of it, but he's also smart, clever and deserves better than the typical hollywood psycho path.

Which is why anyone who has done a good Sweeney Todd would be a good Belkar. He's pretty much Sweeney incarnated into halfling form. (Hmm... maybe George Hearn as Belkar)
