There I was, happily playing the BattleField 2142 demo into the wee hours of the morning when I came across this. (http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/78/iamlegendinbf2142oy2.png) Ingame advertising makes me sad. :smallfrown:

The "Enemy titan shield down" isn't from the billboard by the way. :smalltongue:

Do you have any ingame ad stories?

Most of the time, advertising would be more subtle.

but businesses would pay game developers to put their product or logo in the games. No problem with that really, I dont think. Just as long as it doesn't go so far as "you have unlocked the concept art, brought to you by, <random corporation>". Its another way game developers can make money, easy money. Gives them a bigger budget to make the game a higher quality. The assessment is, developers make money, corporations make sales, and gamers get a better game. Everybody wins.

Will Smith looks really pale there.

It's amazing how the advertising sign is perfectly clean in the middle of a muddy battlefield :smallamused:

Yeah that's pretty darn blatant right there. And it makes me sad. And also glad I don't play the sort of games where this would occur.

I am quite meh towards passive ingame advertising, and I certainly doesnt think that it is something annoying or catastrpohical. Infact, if that sign could be destroyed, or even used as weapon (think Gravity Gun in Hl2) the game would get some plus points....

I don't mind ingame advertising as long as it's not as blatant as it is there. I very much dislike the ingame advertising in 2142 but I'm always too busy shooting baddies to really notice anyway.
