Predators are wild and reckless warriors that live for the thrill of the hunt. Utilising deadly skills and incredible accuracy with both the bow and blade, they nonetheless lack the subtlety of the ninja.

Adventures: Predators adventure for all the reasons anyone might, but many find the enjoyment and freedom that adventuring offers to be the most tempting.

Characteristics: Predators can deal massive amounts of damage in combat, and can excel against any foe, and have a respectable number of skills as well. However, they can fall behind in social situations, and can sometimes lack the versatility of other classes.

Alignment: Predators can be any alignment, slightly leaning towards chaos and evil because of the nature of their abilities, however their arts can be put to moral as well as selfish ends.

Religion: Predators may well venerate gods of nature or the hunt, such as Obad-Hai. Some less upstanding predators may worship Erythnul, god of slaughter.

Background: Predators may have learned the craft in the wild, among the big cats and wolves, or they may have discovered the arts of sudden death from the drow or other evil humanoids.

Races: Predators are most common among humans and elves, as well as among the drow. Few other races possess the necessary dedication and focus, as well as the grace and insight required.

Other Classes: Predators often stand aloof from others, perhaps owing to the often solitary upbringing of the predator, however, they get on best with rangers and barbarians, who share their love of the wild.

Role: Predators are fast and deal enormous amounts of damage, but are not particularly tough, serving best as scouts, long-range combatants or skirmishers.

Class Features

Weapon and Armour Proficiency: Predators are proficient with light armour and all simple weapons, plus the kukri, shortbow, longbow and shortsword.

AC Bonus (Ex): A predator can sense blows before they land, a sixth sense that lets her avoid even unanticipated attacks. When in light or no armour, the predator adds her wisdom bonus to her armour class. This does not stack with the monk's AC Bonus ability.

Raw Instinct(Su): It is a predator's instincts and intuition that keep her alive. She can use her instinct powers a number of times per day equal to half her class level (minimum 1) plus her wisdom modifier. Instinct powers can only be used if the predator is in light or no armour.
As long as a predator's instinct pool isn't empty, she gains a +2 on all initiative checks.
A predator's instinct power's are Hunter's Eye, Sense Weakness, Lash Out, Hunter's Aim, Punch Through and Killing Blow.

Sudden Strike (Ex): As Ninja Ability, except can be used at a range of 60 feet.

Hunter's Eye (Su): As a standard action, the predator can let loose an attack of such devastating potential that it will rip through the enemies insides. This attack automatically critically hits the opponent, however, the threat must still be made, if it fails to confirm, the attack deals no damage. Using this ability requires one daily use of her raw instinct. Creatures that are immune to critical hits are immune to this ability.

Poison Use (Ex): Predators never risk poisoning themselves when handling poison.

Great Leap (Su): Predators leap as if they had a running start and the run feat. This ability can only be used in light or no armour.

Natural Talents (Ex): Predators mimic the most successful creatures of the wilderness, learning their tricks and studying their movements. The predator may choose one of three options:
-Spot, Listen and Survival; or
-Hide, Move Silently and Tumble; or
-Jump, Climb and Swim
The Predator gains a +2 bonus on checks of the skill groups chosen. At 12th level, this bonus increases to +4, and at 18th level, the bonus increases to +6.

Sense Weakness (Su): Predators can sense the weaknesses in armour and hide, attacking them with terrible ferocity. Using a daily use of raw instinct, a predator can as a free action ignore the opponents armour, shield and natural armour bonuses to armour class for a single attack.

Speed Climb (Ex): Predators can climb at her speed as a move action with no penalty, as long as she has at least one hand free and is wearing light or no armour. If she does not end her turn on a horizontal surface, she falls and takes the appropriate damage.

Lash Out (Su): Predators are protective of the area around them. As an immediate action that uses a daily use of raw instinct, they may take an attack of opportunity against a foe that moves out of a square within reach +5ft. If using a ranged weapon, the predator may make an attack of opportunity against a foe that moves out of a square within 30ft. This counts against the predators maximum attacks of opportunity per round.

Improve Poison Use (Ex): A predator may apply poison to a weapon as a move action.

Hunter's Aim (Su): A predator can use a daily use of her Raw Instinct to ignore damage reduction and hardness for one round. This requires a swift action.

Evasion (Ex): A predator can completely evade the effects of a reflex save for half spell or ability on a successful save.

Camouflage (Ex): A predator can hide in any natural setting as a ranger of her level.

Unerring Strike (Su): A predator never takes penalties to hit for attacking a creature with cover or concealment.

Punch Through (Su): A predator can use a daily use of her Raw Instinct to 'punch through' an opponent, striking an opponent behind as a standard action. Roll an attack twice, one for the opponent in front, and the other behind. The second opponent is considered flat-footed for the purposes of this attack. The maximum distance of the second opponent from the first is the reach of the weapon you are using, or one range increment.

Killing Blow (Su): A predator can use two daily uses of her Raw Instinct to instantly kill an opponent. The predator makes an attack as a standard action, if it hits, the opponent must make a fortitude save of dc 10 +1/2 predator's level +wisdom modifier or die. Success still means taking the damage of the attack.

this is pretty cool. i like the way it is built. it keeps throwing me off, since my brain keeps wanting to envision a ninja, while this is more along the lines of an outdoorsy assassin base class or something. but it is pretty cool.

I don't like killing blow... but that's because I have a large dislike against save or die, I'd rather make it that you can
1) either take a standard action and two (ki) or Instinct points, to basically make a strike that would qualify for a sudden strike, regardless of condition of the opponent, barring they aren't immune to crits.
2) either that as a standard action, and spending those two points, you add your sudden strike dice to your damage, regardless of condition or even if they're immune to crits; which then stacks with sudden strike, so on a normal monsters, and you catch them flat footed, you'd do 20d6 + weapon.
The first one is tamer, but both I think work out as capstones at level 20, and work almost as well as a save or die.
