I was bored out of my mind, with nothing to do, and I had a hankering to do some modelling, but had not the cash to buy some models. So I grabbed my bits box, some DIY components that are scattered around the house of late, some glue and set about throwing some heavy weapon emplacements together.

A mobile autocannon platform, made from a rhino door, some petrol canisters, a tile spacer, a small shield, some sprue, an autocannon, an old style bolter, some handles from a rhino sprue. 25mm figure for scale.

A Multiple Rocket Launcher, made from a dreadnought missile arm, a tile spacer and a bit of broken screwdriver I had lying around.

Them both together. Note absolute tip of a bench.

Anyone else have anything they knocked together from spare parts they want to share? I always find it interesting to see what ingenious uses people can find for random parts.

I have plans running around in my head for some form of planetary defence weapon made out of whatever I can get my hands on. I've been eyeing up a jar of Cup-a-Soup that I might be able to turn into the main gun (I could make it into a plasma or melta weapon), but it all depends on whether or not it works out properly.

Failing that, I'm sure I can find something somewhere...

My parents recently changed all the lights in my house, and I've collared two light fittings that are just screaming to be made into a laser battery. I will add pics when I clear my bench enough to get working on it.

I have a collection of dried-out pens, which looks like it numbers in the hundreds because I am so absent-minded. Whenever I get bored, I break out some superglue and make futuristic ships out of the caps and other components.

One thing you can do with biros: get the hexagonal cross-section ones, normally made of transparent palstic. Sand the faces so the paint will cover better, then cut off the ends and cut them into 1"-1/2 tubes. They should tesselate and make a cool looking missile launch pod for a vehicle or ground installation.

My bro made an asteroid mine out of some tinfoil, some spru, some bits off a model airplane and some bits from busted mechwarrior darkage figures.

The mine is for Babylon 5 a call to arms.

Its at the LGS (Local Gaming Shop), I’ll have to remember to snap a picture of it. (wanting to snap pics of my armies anyway).

I modified my entire necron army with the "we'll be back theme" Most of the soldiers are all reforming themselvs after haveing been blasted apart. I used copper wire to create the energy webs that pull them together. My necron lord is a destroyer sourounded by energy and some spare scarabs crawling over them repairing him. I also created him a staff of light by merging a tomb kings great wepon and the destoyers normal blaster pack, then i gave im demon horns just for kicks. To top it off i have a Monolith hovering on a web of energy with Gauss lazer effects comming from the cannons. This is the only army i have that is totaly complete and it took me a long time to finish it. Now if only i could win a game vs those pesky space marines.

I LOVE this stuff thanks for putting up this thread, ill try to get some pics going soon.

I can only apologise profusely for the crap-tastic images, but they're the best I have until I can find the actual camera.

The frame/chassis and creatures riding my Screaming Bell are from the normal model, whereas the Bell and it's harness are from the original Screaming Bell that I've had in pieces for years. There's the sides from the Beastman Chariot, Scythes from the Chaos Chariot, and the Banners, skull (Pic 3, mounted on the corner near the Seer's head) and Banner-tops are from the plastic Skaven Clanrat set.

Simple to do, but I'm very proud of how it turned out, and more than a few people have panicked when they saw me bring it out to play with

I don't really have an extensive bits box, the only thing I have is some form of carnifex monstrosity, made out of greenstuff stuck under a carnifex carapace (those extra biomorph ones). With 2 deathspitters as feet, and like 3 pairs of scything talons, with a carnifex head. I'd take a pic, but A: it's broken, B: I lack a camera at this time.

Wraith.. i have that model TOO.. my bell ringer is on a Little spring and i replaced the bell with one with a actual clapper from michales so that it makes noise. I made a wheel crank to rig the little guy so can wind him up so he will jump forward to ring the bell.. but it didnt work so it just sorta sits there and spins. Yours looks way better than mine tho.. far more chaosy.. Nice
