All too often, young woman and men who lose or are scorned by their lovers are incapable of handling the grief, resorting to suicide. Those who cast themselves into the sea to die for the sake of lost love may come back as Darkwater Brides, animated by their desire for love, to intense for even death to quell. Darkwater Brides (or Darkwater Grooms, though these are rarer) seek out living creatures, and enthrall them with their perverse magic. A Darkwater Bride can drain the life force of her thrall, eventually allowing herself to be resurrected as a living creature, albeit only for as long as the drained life force lasts. Darkwater Brides and Grooms are almost indistinguishable from living creatures; only their pale and brine-crusted skin and their hollow eye sockets, hidden by their long hair, reveal them.

Darkwater Thrall (Su)
A Darkwater Bride is capable of enthralling a creature, bending it to her will and slowly draining its life force to revitalize her own. To do so, she must first kiss or embrace the creature, requiring a melee touch attack. That creature may then make a DC 21 Will save to avoid being enthralled. The save is Charisma-based. Once a creature successfully saves against a Darkwater Bride’s darkwater thrall ability, it is immune to it for 24 hours. If it fails, it suffers 1d4 Charisma drain, and is enslaved by the Darkwater Bride, as the dominate person spell. One minute afterwards, it may attempt another Will save to escape the domination. If it fails, than it is permanently dominated and takes one point of Charisma drain. Each day, it may attempt another Will save to escape, but it takes 1 point of Charisma drain with each failed save.

Once the thrall’s Charisma score falls to 0, it dies, and is reanimated as a zombie permanently under the Darkwater Bride’s control. The Darkwater Bride, meanwhile, is restored to life, as if she had been revived by the true resurrection spell. She still retains her darkwater thrall, doomsong, and spellcasting abilities. However, each day, the revived Darkwater Bride permanently loses one point of Constitution, and once she reaches 0 hp, she dies and is again reanimated as a Darkwater Bride. A Darkwater Bride can only have one darkwater thrall at a time, though the zombies of past thralls do not count towards this limit.

Doomsong (Su)
As a full-round action, a Darkwater Bride may sing a mesmerizing song that lures a single creature within 30 ft. to it. If that creature fails a DC 19 Will save, it becomes entranced by the bride’s song, and can take no actions except to move towards it, ignoring hazardous obstacles or terrain. Once it comes next to the bride, it stands motionless, taking no actions, only listening to the song. If the creature is attacked or has a harmful spell cast on it, it breaks out of the trance. A Darkwater Bride must concentrate to maintain this effect, and can maintain it for up to four rounds, maximum. Once it has used this ability, it must wait until 5 rounds after the end of its duration before it can use the doomsong again. The save is Charisma-based. Creatures that successfully save against the doomsong cannot be affected again by it for 24 hours.

Spells
A Darkwater Bride can cast arcane spells as a 4th-level Sorcerer. The save DC against one of a Darkwater Bride’s spells is equal to 15 + the spell’s level.

Typical Spells Known (6/8/4)
0th–dancing lights, daze, detect magic, ghost sound, prestidigitation, touch of fatigue. 1st–charm person, chill touch, ray of enfeeblement. 2nd–touch of idiocy.

Nice, but the combo of doomsong and casting is a bit too much. The Doomsong is already of above average difficulty, and sorcerer 6 spellcasting instantly makes it CR 6. Either the bride should be CR 8 or 9, or you should lower the casting to 4th level.

Excellently creepy. Balance-wise, I don't really have anything to say that Azerian didn't already get to.

Speaking of which, this reminds me on equal sides of The Corpse Bride, and a story about a Dead Siren, which was tens hades of awesome.

Bumped the sorcerer casting down to 4th level.
