I remember reading about this a few years back. Can't find the article any where.

Anyone have a rule of thumb (or table/chart) for determining how far and wide a character's fame (or infamy) reaches per level?

IE, 1st level wizard is gonna be known all over his little village, but he might be unknown a village over. Elminster is known all over.

5th level fighter might be known all over the county, etc.

Star Wars Revised Core Edition (the 3.5-based one) has a very well-integrated reputation and fame system.

It is definately what I would use if I was looking for a good concept.
