So Paizo is NOT going to go 4e!

they're publishing their own take on 3.5, doing a *fix* of it instead of 3.5.

I think this is *huuuuuuge*!

the gist of it is they're letting 3.5 fans stay with their massive collections, rather than forking over huge wads of cash waiting for re-hashes of stuff they've already got. Thanks to the OGL, they can publish their own rule book based on 3.5. This is kinda like how Monte Cook did Arcana Evolved, so it's legal.

The problem is they've got a "conversion" section at the back. The rules are slightly different, and will use a number of Houserules suggested by fans. These are likely similar to the Houserules in general use that prompted a lot of what 4e had done.

So there is a double-book problem likely on its way, with the big company on one side and the smaller publisher on the other, both charging cash for new rules that will be "the next big thing".

However, the fixes 3.5 needs will likely take similar forms of the 4e fixes. They've already started giving spellcasters at-will 0-level spells, plus a number of spell-like abilities based on school/domains (which is like the at will/per encounter abilities in 4e).

I predict Wizards may move up their release schedule for future 4e products to give players fast access to stuff they've already got (bards, barbarians, psionics, etc.), so they don't just stick with the 3.5 books they've already got.

So Paizo is NOT going to go 4e!

Correction: Pathfinder Magazine isn't going to be 4E, however it would seem their Necromancer magazine will be.

Sheriff of Moddingham: There's already a thread about this on the first page of this section. Please use that one. Thanks.
