Arena Tournament, Round 35: Krux vs. Bobo

Extra notes: Houses are on average 20 feet high (just use that average figure all over the house), hay piles are up to 10 feet high against the walls. And, I don't care whether you're immune to sanctuary effects, you are not immune to the arena's sanctuary effect. Creatures summoned during the 1st round are also affected by the sanctuary effect.

Believe me, if we could keep purchases secret, I'd be keeping my sleep-smoke secret. All purchases must be announced if they are made after the creation of the match thread.

That said, shouldn't matter too much. Please announce your starting Location, and I'll be happy to begin. :) I assume mounted, in all 4 squares?

I start in C10, with my club in hand, and that's it.
Gail starts in D11, with 2 flasks in hand.

Your movement triggers both my and my elemental's readied actions.

My action: Move. I run up the wall to my north (using my Up the Walls feat), and, after reaching the top of the building, continue across the roof to H6.

My elemental's action. Throw sleep-smoke. Aimed at the intersection between U10-V11. Attack roll, vs AC5. [roll0]

Assuming it hits, it will expand to cover U10-V11.

You will then continue your action, which must include the 5 foot movement into the smoke. When you do, both you and your horse will need to make DC15 Fort saves.

Now, both of you have a +6 fort save, which means a good chance of passing. But chances aren't good of both of you passing.

Round 2, Part 1

Move: Back to F7, then 20 feet forward to the east edge of the building, Jumping to the next building. (+8 for high movement)

Round 3, Part 1

Crap, that thing woulda dropped me in one hit. I'm getting careless.

From my position in N6, Move west taking my running jump again, moving west.
Jump: [roll0]
Should auto succeed. Finish move at G5, drop out of sight as I go prone.
Rest of actions:I ready an action: stand up if opponent gets atop a building.

Gail's actions:
Move to: L10, Altitude +90 feet from ground level.
Gail readies an action:
Move if opponent is about to break LOS
End turn.

On my action, gas in P8-Q9 expands to O7-R10 (corners excluded). If you're still in the area of the gas, you need to make DC 15 fort saves for you and mount again. Gas in T9-W12 (corners excluded) dissipates harmlessly.

I intend to maintain this position until the end of round 13, unless my elemental reports you've fallen asleep, when you and your horse must make 3 more saves versus the sleep smoke poison (one on round 11, one on round 12, and one on round 13). I have a readied action for if you manage to make it up to where I'm at. If you do, actions from that point on will change. If not, go ahead and take actions for rounds 3-13.

Gail's gonna have a continuous readied action to move if you break LOS. All she'll be doing is moving to keep LOS of you. Whenever you attempt to break LOS, she'll move to the square you're about to enter, at altitude 90 ft. If Gail doesn't have LOS to you at the end of any turn, I'll manually control her movement in the following turn. Otherwise, go right ahead.

Hmm. Based on military saddle, you've got a 75% chance to stay in saddle. Go ahead and roll that. If you stay in, you're asleep for 1 minute. Falling will, unfortunately, wake you with 1d6 damage.

Still in saddle, then. Per mounted combat sections, if a rider's unconscious, the mount will attempt to avoid any threats. Thus, I'll keep nice and far away until he has to make saves.

You're asleep for 10 rounds, which means you'll wake up at the start of your round 13. Make horse movements as you like, until round 10.

Nah, but it's your horse. As I'm out of range of any offensive action, any movement is as likely as any other. Do what you like with the horse, within reason.

Actually, tell ya what. Let's handle this round by round, I have a different way I wanna take this. It's round 3, your move, move horse as you like. I'll perform actions in round 4.

EDIT: Just to reiterate, you do control your mount. It's been ruled that as long as a player controls his mount by the rules (mounts that are not guided by riders avoid combat), there's no reason not to allow the player to continue to control it.

REFS: Please start the 2 day countdown for my opponent from the date this post was edited.

I can officially vouch for that. It was Kyeudo's ruling. The mount must avoid combat, but can't actually leave the arena unless it can somehow open a door. So long as you follow those guidelines, move the mount as you wish.
