View Full Version : Fresh Idea for getting Characters

Recently, I stumpled upon this really great character quiz (http://www.easydamus.com/character.html). For me and my friends, as long as the questions were answered honestly, you got a very close character what you are in real life.

Get a couple of players to roll up themselves in real life with it, and then they can practically play themselves. Because my friends and I are all teenagers or older, we are only 1st level, but it could still be a fun campaign. Who better to Role-Play than yourself?

Also, for fun, I'm a LG Halfling Paladin with average (11-12) Physical stats, a Wisdom of 11, an Intelligence of 14, and a Charisma of 14.

I'd quite like to try this, actually- apparently I'm a 1st-level Neutral Good Human Wizard with 12 Str, Con and Wis, 11 Dex, 15 Cha and a tasty, tasty 17 Intelligence.

Maybe we should try to persuade someone on GitP to run a game like this here...

EDIT: Very interesting looking at the statistics on that site- Wizard is the most common class, Neutral Good the most common alignment. I wonder why people who play D&D come out as the bookish, nerdy type so much...?:smallamused:

I found mine to be really inaccurate:

Chaotic Neutral Human Druid/Wizard (1st/1st Level).

Ability Scores:
Strength- 12
Dexterity- 13
Constitution- 13
Intelligence- 14
Wisdom- 14
Charisma- 12

I'd say I'm Chaotic (Neutral) Good, and I'd give myself the folowing stats: 8 (or possibly 7) Str, 14 Dex and Con, 16 Int, 8 Wis and 12 Cha. Also, I'd never consider multiclassing in a D&D game let alone in real life. Ironically, these stats are worth a 30 point buy while my real life stats are ony worth 25 or 26 (considering how weak and unperceptive I am, I don't see how it could even consider giving me positive modifers for Wis and Str). I would probably be a Wizard, though (Archivist would be a much better fit due to my Reiki, but they need Wis for bonus spells for some bizare reason)

True Neutral Human Bard 2/Wizard 1

Str 12
Dex 10
Con 10
Int 16
Wis 14
Cha 10

... ...

What the heck?! A Bard with a 10 Charisma?? Bah, I shoulda known I'd be unoptimized! I'd like to think my Charisma is a little higher, but I guess those stats are actually pretty accurate.

Although IRL I'm probably really just an Expert 2 with Skill Focus( Use Computers ). :smallwink:

This is why I tend to see these sorts of tests as a waste of time if you want a serious representation of yourself (alignment tests have placed me at NG, LN, CN, LG and CG in the past, and I've got classes ranging from Wizard or Druid to Ranger or Monk as well.). In real life, I'm pretty much a Commoner at presant, but I'll be an Expert with maxed out Heal and Professon (Alternative therapist) once I've been to university (unless being able to use Reiki somehow makes me an Adept or a Paladin).

(VV) Playing as myself with my actual stats would be fun, but playing with what the test claimed were my stats would be really rubbish.

True Neutral Human Cleric (Level 1)

Strength- 9
Dexterity- 10
Constitution- 11
Intelligence- 12
Wisdom- 17
Charisma- 11

I am happy with this. I love the cleric class, I value wisdom the most, Human is my favorite race, and True Neutral is...well, really how I saw myself, anyway.

True Neutral Human Bard (1st Level)

Hmm. Well, I can safely say I didn't see the Bard coming. Nor did I expect to get four points of Sorcerer for a runner-up, either. I was expecting a lot more points of Rogue or Wizard, to be honest. Minus 25 for Paladin is kinda amusing. I got 13 points of both human and half-elf, and 12 of elf. I wonder what that signifies? Alignment-wise I'm pretty much what I expected; 24 N, 22 NG and 20 CN. This might explain why I sometimes have trouble thinking of motivation for my characters. ("Well, uh, what's in it for me?")

Not a bad test, though I'd probably not want to play myself in a game, at least with those stats. Bard with that Cha? No thanks.

I got a chaotic evil half elf ranger (level 4) str 12, dex 13, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 10, Cha 14. I can't cast spells! I can go the champion of nature route...

I am consistently chaotic evil though, through all my tests.

I'm moderatly satisfied, through with results like that, I'd peg me more as NG than LG - I'd make a horrible paladin and fall very, very quickly (at least according to the fervently anti-Paladin DMs who seem to live on these boards). Better to go the Ranger route if it insists I go the Sword-and-spell route.
Oh, and I have pretty bad ability scores for an adventurer.

EDIT:
Looking through Invisible Castle's Site -thats a... 31 point buy? Maybe to most sub-optimal-ness comefrom the the Paladin being so MAD and having such low spell-slinging stats.

I just realized I've got a frickin' 38 point build right there. What the huh? I mean, okay, I am gifted and stuff and it is quite possible to roll that kind of an array, but that's still just way over the top for a normal guy like me.

Hmm didn’t see the cleric coming. Personally I think I score about 14 on the charisma scale, the major problem is that most of my friends are strong willed. So its difficult to convince them of stuff, I think that threw off the results a little bit. The strength and con also seem a little low to me, but oh well.

That's about what I expected. I usually come out LN or True Neutral on any sort of test like this, and I know I've got a high Int (though I'd say it'd probably be no more than 16 or so). I'm not sure how I got a 12 Con though; I'm out of shape, but I guess it's because I can take a punch and hold my alcohol.

Two things worry me, though - I was very close to being an Elf, and I'm apparently not suited for anything other than being a Wizard (even though Sorcerer and Monk do come in a distant second).

Strength 13
Dexterity 10
Constitution 10
Intelligence 13
Wisdom 11
Charisma 17

Most of the scores I'd agree with. Strength is way off, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were something like 8 or 9. Intelligence would likely be 1 point higher, and I'd probably lower Charisma one point. Also, Wisdom might be 9 or 10.

True Neutral Human 4th level Sorcerer.

I have no idea how I rated such ungodly stats.
I'm not even going to repeat them. they're wrong. Besides, I closed the page without saving the data and don't feel like going through the quiz again. (hint: the range was between 13 and 17 for all of them) I think the relations between the stats were about right, but the scale was off. Knock everything down by 2 points or so and it should be about right.

For what it's worth, I think this may be at least slightly skewed towards Good (somewhat unsurprisingly). A lot of the obviously Evil responses are just that: obviously Evil. And as I posted someplace earlier today, no one thinks of themselves (okay, very few people) as evil. And then there's the obvious problem of this disgusting point-buy I've just received, whatever it is.

EDIT: That's a 61-point buy, for anyone who was wondering. If these stats are right, I have no idea why I haven't done about a dozen completely extraordinary things with my life thus far.

It seems to me that what they're saying is, "If you were a D&D hero, whose role in the world would be more or less that of a PC, these are what your stats would look like."

They're taking our talents and blowing them outward into heroic proportions. Just like it's obviously not saying you're actually a Cleric or Wizard or whatever, it's obviously not saying that all these people actually have mentalities one step away from the greatest human potential.

It seems to me that what they're saying is, "If you were a D&D hero, whose role in the world would be more or less that of a PC, these are what your stats would look like."
But he's got a 61 point build! I don't think I've ever seen a character with that many points that wasn't a demigod or something. I mean, the baseline for what is expected of a D&D hero is somewhere between 25 and 32, and he's got twice that. That's not heroic, it's outright divine.

It's interesting... I took this same quiz a few months ago, but I decided to take it again just now to see if anything had changed.

Last time I was a:

Constitution-9

Wisdom-12

This time I'm a:

Lawful Good Human Cleric (3rd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 10
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 10
Intelligence- 15
Wisdom- 12
Charisma- 10

So I've shifted from NG to LG, from a wizard to a cleric, all my physical stats have gone up by one, my intelligence has gone down by one, my charisma has gone down by three, and only my wisdom has stayed the same.

...and I'd still make a much better wizard than cleric.

Alignment:
Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

Short version:

Lawful Good Human Cleric (2nd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 13
Dexterity- 12
Constitution- 15
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 14
Charisma- 13

Fine by me, I'm religious. But I'd probably multiclass to wizard. But I think I'm more like NG with strong lawful tendancies. I wonder if we could start a thread using these characters in a game?

Yeah, that's seems about right to me. Int up a bit maybe...

True Neutral Human Cleric/Sorcerer (1st/1st Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 10
Dexterity- 12
Constitution- 12
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 17
Charisma- 14

(If I remember my point buy things correctly, this is a 40 stat build).

I'm borderline good/chaotic.

I am not a total religious person, but I could see myself as a cleric. As for sorcerer: many years ago, I may have been a wizard, but now I have embraced having fun, AKA sorcerer. I may actually try this one out. Mechanically pathetic, but fun.

Chaotic Good Human Rogue (5th Level)

Strength- 11
Dexterity- 13
Constitution- 14
Intelligence- 16
Wisdom- 10
Charisma- 14

32 point buy. No superpowers, but a fairly playable jack of all trades. Resembles suspiciously the first character I ever played. OK, they were called Thieves back then...

Neutral Good Gnome Bard (1st level)

Strength-8
Dexterity-8
Constitution-10
Intelligence-11
Wisdom-10
Charisma-11

Sad to say; I feel this is pretty accurate although I might shift my Constitution score down a little bit. Although I would like to believe that my Charisma score is a smidgin higher being an actor and all. Oh well, I'll just take Skill Focus [Perform (Acting)].

Edit: What sort of sick DM would have you play with 10 pt. buy?

I took this a few months ago and was a Chaotic Neutral Bard 2/Wizard 2.

This time I'm:

Neutral Good Human Wizard (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 10
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 11
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 12
Charisma- 16

True Neutral Human Rogue (2nd Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 14
Dexterity- 14
Constitution- 13
Intelligence- 14
Wisdom- 11
Charisma- 12

Huh, strength is probably two points off. I just punch good and stuff and that's mostly technique. I still work out a bit, mostly calisthenics and such with weights. I'm just slightly above average in whatever I do I guess =3
I expected to be either NG, LN or TN so I guess that was a good estimate, haha.
I thought I was gonna be a wizard though, either that or monk. Oh well, a rogue is fine too.

A 30 point buy, it's seems playable but I've never played rogues that much so I don't know :smalltongue:

But he's got a 61 point build! I don't think I've ever seen a character with that many points that wasn't a demigod or something. I mean, the baseline for what is expected of a D&D hero is somewhere between 25 and 32, and he's got twice that. That's not heroic, it's outright divine.
I've rolled a 62 point build once, and my friend has rolled a 72 point build. I will of course agree that those are quite ludicrous. Our group generally likes high stats, though... (We do 4d6, reroll ones, drop lowest 6 times, and if you're not happy you can roll again ad infinitum).

I'm 13 Human, 13 Half-Elf and 12 Elf, exactly like someone who posted before me. I want to know what that means, too... Wizard doesn't surprise me, but this is the first such test which has labelled me as 'good' aligned. I always thought I'd be True Neutral in a D&D world, but I guess my Communistic tendencies are to blame/thank.

Lawful Neutral Dwarf Sorcerer (5th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength- 14
Dexterity- 16
Constitution- 15
Intelligence- 17
Wisdom- 15
Charisma- 16

5th level? Must be trying to tell me I'm old I think. And the point buy for those stats? 58?

Does make me think about playing a dwarf to replace me character that died last Sunday though.

I got TN Human with STR 13, DEX 11, CON 11, INT 15, WIS 9, CHA 9, which sounds...meh, close enough. As for class, there's no way in hell it gave me the right one. It showed this:

Class:
Barbarian - (-2)
Bard ------ (0)
Cleric ---- (0)
Druid ----- (-6)
Fighter --- XXXX (4)
Monk ------ (-23)
Paladin --- (-25)
Ranger ---- (-2)
Rogue ----- XXXX (4)
Sorcerer -- XXXX (4)
Wizard ---- XXXX (4)
But it gave me Fighter/Rogue. Just looking at the stats and the descriptions it gave of Fighter and Rogue, there's no way in hell I'm anywhere near a Fighter, and a Sorcerer who can't cast spells isn't really a Sorcerer, now is he? That leaves Wizard and maybe a multiclass into a Rogue with literally no other capabilities than being a skillmonkey :smallannoyed:

Int is my lowest? No way. I'd swap it with charisma (and then be a more effective wizard). Almost a bard, which was what I expected. 13 int annoys me, but it says I'm a 55point character so I shouldn't complain too much.

The problem with this test is that it's so subjective. Quite a bit of the physical questions compared you to your friends. My friends are geeks. They don't do sports. I'm quite a bit stronger than them, but I have no idea how I fare against other people my age who did play sports throughout college.

I have yet to take this quiz (at work, see).

But I'm curious; stats we could probably figure out. But what feats do you think you'd have?

Myself? With almost a decade of Karate and about 3 years of Wrestling, I'd probably place fairly high as a monk or other unarmed combatant, with Imp Grapple and Imp Unarmed Strike.

What feats do you think you'd have with your tested class?

Well, this week, I'm a LG human Monk/Ranger. Clearly, it means swordsage...
Str 16 Dex 16 Con 17 Int 14 Wis 15 Cha 13.
Runners-up NG, elf and half-elf, Clr and Pal. I got a -21 on Barbarian!
Last week, I was a Cleric/Ranger with similarly unnatural scores.
That's a....computing....46 point buy. Wow. Screwy and wrong, but wow.

Oh, and on a lark, I tried to create a human paladin with perfect stats. This is what I got:
LG dwarf Cleric 5/Paladin 5, Str 19 Dex 20 Con 20 Int 20 Wis 20 Cha 19.

Can you believe that cleric was the only one with a positive score?? The worst part is that I knew this was going to be the result...
I had -25 on barbarian, none on evil and 3 on caothic, I had 30 on LG and 28 on LN 14 on human and 10 on gnome, halfling and half elf.
