Prepare the bunkers, gentlemen! The apocalypse has arrived!

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l271/artemician/rect3861ig0.png

Probably those who want to know already do know, but for the benefit of those who don't, I'm referring to one of the most epic projects that has ever graced the interwebs. I'm referring to the Melancholy of Haruki Suzumiya, or as some peopel call it, The Genderbending of Haruhi Suzumiya. The project involves the genderbending of every.single.character in the Suzumiya Haruhi franchise. Yes, every one, even the titular Haruhi.

It was brought up in the main thread, but I think it's popular enough to warrant it's own thread, dont'cha think? :smallwink:

Haruhi -> Haruki
Yuki -> Yuuki
Mikuru -> Mitsuuru/Minoru

Kyon -> Kyonko
Itsuki -> Itsuko

Animesuki Thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=63152)
Baka-Tsuki Translation Project (http://www.baka-tsuki.net/project/index.php?title=Suzumiya_Haruki_no_Seitenkan)

Piccies!

Thoughts, gentlemen (and token Lady)? I'll refrain from posting mine for the moment, I need to gather them.

Well I dunno.. it's actually quite interesting IMO. I find Haruki to be a much more interesting character than Haruhi, and Mitsuuru is....

Not to mention Kyonko makes me insecure in my masculinity.

It's quite funny, the way simply changing someone's gender makes you see things differently. Maybe I'm just a closet sexist :smalleek:

Hi, I'm Rutee, and I approve of this message ^.^

So this is a huge doujin project then?

IIRC, it started with some 4-komas. Then people saw them, liked them, and translated them. Then a thread was created. And the madness spread.

There are rewritten chapters of the light novel (aforementioned Baka-Tsuki, voice remixes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGLpQfdTkGM&NR=1), loads and loads of pics (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LV2QUO6O) and tonnes of other disturbing stuff besides.

Why's Haruki better then Haruhi? Aren't they about the same?

Would Kyonko become the new Moeblob? Also she's cute, so why the masculinity problems? :3

I find Haruki funnier. Especially with lines like these:

"See how weak he is?" Haruki declared. "See how easily he's defeated? What he needs is guts! Guts and courage! If you have those, then you'll never be beaten, but if you lack them, then you'll never amount to anything! You won't be worthy of being called a man!"
...
Haruki grasped the air with his fist “Therefore, this will be our club’s first project! To turn this runty weakling, this non-man, into a man to be envied by all! A man among men!”

"I've heard about a certain group of girls who are totally into some really nasty, forbidden-in-school stuff. They even produce their own doujinshi manga to sell at Comiket, the major part of it all using a very public school club fund..."
...
“Here’s how this is going to go down. You’re going to give us a computer, and I won’t tell anyone that you’re making gay porn manga with the school’s money.”

I really like the GAR thing they've got going.

Mitsuuru remains the loliblob. Or should I say shotablob. Whatever. The aim is not to change the personalities overmuch, except when absolutely necessary (see Haruki and GAR). It's quite quite interesting how they managed to do some scenes (the Bunnygirl outfit became a Chippendale suit) and sometimes it's a source of hilarity in itself.

Well, sounds like a transplant of Daigouji Gai (I won't be reading it for now, so).

I've read it, and there's quite a bit more going than that. It really makes you see the work in a new light.

Haruki's exuberance and hot-bloodedness, which I find misfitting in Haruhi, somehow manage to fit perfectly in a guy. Mitsuuru is just plain even more adorable than Mikuru, but the HoYay scenes suddenly become extremely repulsive. Yuuki goes from 'Cute Quiet Girl' to 'Closet Badass'. Itsuko has this really, really strange thing going on with Kyonko that you realize was present in Itsuki all along but you just didn't want to notice. Kyonko goes from Wisecracking Wise Guy to Tsundere-Daria.

It's quite amazing how much a simple change in gender also changes your views on a lot of things. Are we actually non-sexist, when you think about it?

That just means that you like SUPA ROBOTU better then jerkass, IMO.

You got that right.

If they're acting the same, but a gender change casts them in a completely different light (Particularly if Haruki acts /the exact same way/), then yes, there's some sexism. I imagine there's more then we'd like to admit, so I'm not casting any real judgement on you as a person for it.

I find the concept of Kyonko to be Hot Beyond All Belief (I think I'll coin a new term...yes...HBAB is my new term!) because her sarcasm and commentary combined in a girl's body just makes me wanna go *squee* and I think only girls normally squee.

To be honest, Genki-girl Haruhi worked for me really well, but I'll definitely give Haruki a chance. I've gotta ask though...how will Haruki keep from getting himself arrested for sexual assault? Seriously! And Koizumi as a girl...yeah, he should've been a girl to begin with. Fits Koizumi better.

A friend of mine showed me a pic of this a while ago - I thought it was merely a nice edit, I didn't realize this has gone so far. Now that I look at it, this does
seem like it could be a lot of fun (though I'm a bit of a purist and I don't generally approve mocking of the series I love in any way). I'll definitely look into the matter ;).

I agree on both points. Frankly, although it may be just as fun, the whole concept of "Haruki" doesn't feel right - I'd say a great deal of Haruhi's charm comes from the fact that such a pretty and seemingly normal girl is quite the opposite of what you'd expect, a ruthless dictator. Although it is true that Haruhi has more of a male personality, she's more fun as a girl.

Heh, this was awesome back when I found it (i.e. when I grabbed that first pick for my desktop) and now it's even more so. Those redubs of the songs are especially cool, and this thing's finally gotten me into reading the novel. I'm sure I'll rue that decision soon enough, but whatever.

Also, Yuuki Kyonko's hot.

I have this weird feeling like I can see into the future... Oh God, I'll still be single when the new season airs. :smallfrown: But at least there'll be a genderbending episode. No, really. I'm positive this thing is too big for them to ignore. La la la, I can't hear you...

This thread really give me some new light toward the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya. When we changed the gender, we see the character with a really different light.

As someone above me said, and I agree.

Haruhi->Gar?
Kyon->Tsundere (abso-freakin-lutely fabulous)
Yuki-> Closet Badass

Yuki's always been a closet badass. It's just she's gone from Stoic Cute Bruiser to Stoic Bishonen.

I hadn't realized that Baka-Tsuki had rewritten versions of this. I'll have to look them up. Although god knows I discovered plenty of GB Haruhi pics in general.

And yeah, it's kind of scary how appealing Kyonko is. The attitude I admire in a man is one that I admire and find attractive in a woman I suppose.

Terraoblivion

As a fan project i wholly approve for a variety of reasons, the most important being how cute Kyonko is. Also it makes Itsuki's possible attraction to Kyon much more appealing to have them transgendered. Though i wouldn't mind if it had only been those two who had been shifted, well possibly Haruhi as well to make it fit. Just find it a bit of a shame to have Yuki changed.

Also it seems like it is quite a quality product in terms of drawing and the like for something fanmade like this.

I wouldn't mind if Itsuki, HAruhi, and Mikuru were gender shifted and they made that a new shoujo-version of Suzuhara. Mitsuru is so much more /cute/ then Mikuru, I can't see keeping her. Main problem is that Kyonko is fundamentally the same character design as Haruhi. :P

Also /u/ is weird in a good way. I expected all hentai but it's like it's an even split of cute and naughty.

To be fair to Men, the process that allows two women to bear kids on their own isn't cheap enough to distribute to everyone.

...Yet :P

In seriousness, I wouldn't mind shoujo or shounen ai, as long as it was handled.. you know, cutely and respectfully. That's pretty much my barometer for romance. Is it either Cute or Epic? If yes, then is it handled in a sufficiently interesting way? If yes then yay.

4chan is basically an English version of 2chan. In other words, it's an anonymous image board. u is short for yuri, which is a Japanese term for romance between two females.

Terraoblivion

Sounds like something that might be worth looking into, Rutee. I like good love stories, even as i hate bad ones. Of course i hate bad everything, but still. Also the genders of those paired are actually secondary, despite my joking around. I mean i have an easier time identifying with a pairing of two girls, but that doesn't mean it is a must for me by any means.

And 4-chan is the cesspool of the internet, Frosty. And of course like many cesspools quite a lot of reactions happen there and much energy is released, but it doesn't change that it is inherently extremely filthy.

I prefer to make a distinction between Sexism (a belief that genders should be treated differantly) and perception biases. I don't hold any concious beliefs about gender or race but my perceptions are incredibly biased.

I find the concept of Kyonko to be Hot Beyond All Belief (I think I'll coin a new term...yes...HBAB is my new term!) because her sarcasm and commentary combined in a girl's body just makes me wanna go *squee* and I think only girls normally squee.

But really when you get right down to it, what is the purpose of men?:smallwink:

Generally it's dying in wars and getting women pregnant. You could just clone women but you'd still need cannon fodder.

Is there something wrong with that?

Yes, though it may be something wrong with the boringness of male characters in media than you being perverted. I'm not sure on that however.

Also Kannazuki no Miko is a love story I think you'll dig, if you can keep watching after Episode 7 (Beeg hueg tragedy that can cause people to stop watching altogether)

Just so long as no-one becomes an hero :smalltongue:

Anyways, to get back to on topic, if anyone's looking for SHnY gender-swap images, Danbooru is definitely a good place to start. Last I was on, there were 640+ images under the correct tags, with more being added regularly (in fact, most of the recent stuff under the main haruhi tag comes up as GS material).

I think the GS material is very interesting, given how thoroughly it has inflitrated the SHnY fandom in such a short time. It's a pretty good example of a viral idea, I think. In the end, I still prefer the characters under their normal guises. In particular, a major reason I love the series is for Haruhi herself - to me, she's a unique character. She's fiery, opinionated, and ambitious, and unlike how many other similar female characters are portrayed, it seems to me her having these traits isn't presented as negative, it's how she channels them that can be a problem. Switch these same characteristics over to a male character, and it just doesn't grab me the same way - they aren't as unexpected.

Haruhi has got to be female. It is a large part of her appeal as a character for the very reasons Gorbash states. It is just liberating to see an anime where a girl who is definitely not going to morph into a Yamato Nadeshiko (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/YamatoNadeshiko) the moment they are in a relationship, but is in fact strong and independent through-out it. If she were male she would at best just be completely crazy and hyperactive and at worst just be a simple bully, both of which are much less interesting than her being a strong, independent if completely neurotic girl.

The other characters can more easily be changed, though ultimately they work best the way they are. I like Kyonko solely for the fan service she promises the depths of my mind, but ultimately i think Kyon is best just the way he is. In the anime at least, the voice actor did a good job adding personality to the already great lines.

As for the 4-chan conversation i think that random is called /b/ is exactly because it is random. Picking /r/ would not be random, but entirely logical, whereas picking /b/ is quite random as there is no point in why it should be /b/.

If you met a girl that you could be described as "you but with boobs" would you want to date her? I'd probably want to date her at first and then quickly find out how annoying my attitude really is. Anyway, my point was that it isn't that uncommon as a fantasy if your narcistic (can you have narcism about mental as well as physical attractiveness?).

Agreed. The whole genders-wapping fiction needs to keep Haruhi and swap everyone else.

Since you're making 2 female characters male and 2 male characters female, leaving the odd one out alone would be acceptable. But then again making a character that only works as one gender into another gender can be an interesting challenge.

While 4chan is called an "image board", its purpose is not artwork, but rather, a massive set of mostly unmoderated forums where people hang out argue about things and make complete asses of themselves. There are threads dedicated to particular kinds of imagery (especially on boards that aren't /b/), and the technology is based around attaching images to posts to quickly share them, but mostly, people just bitch and/or perpetuate memes and/or post really really horrible images.

Effectively, it's a forum dedicated to trolling. And 99% of it isn't the funny kind of trolling, either.

Back on topic, regarding Kyonko...the thing is, since Kyon's already a lot like me (see signature) but with the jadedness and pessimism dialed up to 11, it kinda would be like dating me with boobs (and tsundereness). I think in my case I'd find the attitude attractive as hell, but a relationship wouldn't really go anywhere. Call me a narcissist if you must, this subject of thought has already made me far more uncomfortable than your insults will.

They have a man who owns the servers and updates the HTML occasionally. They even have mods in the sections with actual topics, mostly to temp-ban people who post too much content that belongs in a different section. Oh, and CP. 4chan is pretty much anarchy, but they don't want to get shut down by the feds.

You know what? WikiChan (http://www.wikichan.org/index.php/Main_Page) has plenty of information on Image Boards and the horrors they have spawned. This isn't as scary as the real thing, but nonetheless read at your own risk. This site has offensive language, but I think the images are all okay.

Setting up a generic anime thread is seeming to be a better and better idea.

In any case, the "me with(out) boobs" thing is somewhat on topic, as Kyonko appears to be the kind of girl Kyon would get on with well (well, if Kyonko wasn't as much of a pettanko, though that's not much of a barrier).

After all, Kyon would agree with this:

I think 4chan isn't bad. It's necessary. It's impure, sure, Bad would imply we don't need it. 4chan is the source of the intertubez' memes. Where would we be if we couldn't be OVER NINE THOUSAND. That said it's NSFB. And Frosty is too pure to hang out on it.

As to With/Without boobs it followed acceptable conversational drift, I'd say. I think Kyon wouldn't like Kyonko; He's got some pretty heavy preconceived notions of women, and Kyonko would shatter them into the dust.

I've heard many of the memes that spawn off of 4chan, largely through TVTropes and my perusal of the epic RPG motivator thread over at RPG.net (honestly the only bit of that site I've read), but it has never spawned in me a desire to visit the site. More a compulsive desire to avoid it. I appreciate the function it performs, but I have neither inclination or desire to discover how it goes about these functions. So, yes, keep it, but, keep it far, far away from me.

Anyway, Kyon only seems to admit to himself interest in Mikuru out of all the girls he deals with (I think there are hints of interest in Nagato in the novels, but I haven't read too much of those for fear of spoiling season two). If he ever interacted with female Kyon, I don't think either of them would notice their attraction to each other even if it was there.

It would probably go something like:

Indiferance -> Synchronised actions -> Stepping on toes -> Rivalry -> Understanding -> Sex

Or

Lust -> Sex -> Disillusionment -> Self Loathing -> Kyonko and Itsuki hook up -> Kyonko and Itsuki breakup -> Kyon and Kyonko realise their love -> Marriage

I've seen that her age was 16 or 17 years somewhere... even on these forums. Or maybe it's because I was 16 when I started high school (as most people in Poland), and had 17th birthday in April.

And my character doesn't really resemble Haruhi - she's much more good-natured, doesn't have that many weird ideas, is not dangerously genre savvy (only normally genre savvy), and not even remotely that genki. And cannot unconsciously reshape reality - yet, because it's Exalted we're talking about.

I can't find a birth date for Haruhi, so it wouldn't be possible to nail her age down exactly.

Japanese high school (kōtōgakkō), more properly upper secondary school, covers what in the US would, roughly, be grades 10, 11, and 12. That generally corresponds with first year students being about 15, though depending on birth date they could be 16 by the end of the school year. In the anime, Haruhi is probably 15-16. With the novels, since they're well into the second year, she would be 16-17.

For an example, my own birthdate fell in such a way that I was 16 halfway through 10th grade (US), and 18 well before the end of my senior year.

Terraoblivion

You know Tengu, you sound like you play Exalted just like one of my friends. It is almost scary actually.

As for Haruhi's age then 15 in the beginning and either 15 or 16 by the end of the first season seems to be by far the most likely, with the most likely alternative probably being 15 throughout the first season and having her birthday between the first and the second one. At least that covers the tenth grade of pretty much everybody i have ever known and seems to be the norm for first year high school students in Japanese entertainment, unless they want to age the characters enough for it to be legal to show them have sex.

So people were saying earlier that they didn't think Haruki (the character) would work because of how Haruhi's personality is viewed based on her gender. From what I've read so far (page 85... does that thread ever stop?), I think Haruki can work. He's not the same; he definitely loses a little of her uniqueness, but he gains more likability, and since they're both so central to the stories, that can actually be a valid trade-off.

Haruki: Dunno. A Job would bore her too much?
Yuuki: Librarian

Koizumi: Model?
Kyonko: Waitress or cashier
Taniguchi: Brothel worker
Kunikida: No idea

I was actually making a joke about a comment Kyonko made to Taniguchi in either a fan-made conversion of one of the episodes of the anime, or from the fan-project of Haruki novels on Baka-Tsuki. I think Taniguchi was asking Kyonko about what she did over the summer, and when Kyonko said she spent it with ehr little cousins or what not, Taniguchi said that was boring. She then said that since they're all in high school now, they should do things more suitable for high school students, like getting a part time job. Kyonko then makes a sarcastic comment (thought, not out loud) about "Yeah, probably a brothel" referring to his opinions of Taniguchi's boy-obsession.

Yeah, it does. Then again a good ending to Eva would be the equivalent of the Iliad ending with Zeus becoming a faithful husband. Just completely illogical given what came before and as such a shock if they manage to get it to make sense and horrible if not.
Believe it or not, there's a hentai doujin out there that manages a happy-ish ending...without actually changing anything that happened or anything that the series meant. It doesn't manage to be quite as confusing, though.

Yes, Rutee, I finally got around to reading Re-Take in its entirety (I think you were the one I first brought that up with).

That is impressive, Nerd-o-Rama, really impressive. Now i am compelled by my curiosity to find that doujin and see if it can be true, even with the mental scars the hentai will undoubtedly cause in me.

I'd imagine that male Melissa Mao would be your typical swearing and drinking drill sergeant (of course, she's higher ranked - major, right? - but you get the idea) who, deep down on the inside, has a heart of gold for his men.

Relationship between Sagara Sousuke and Kaname Chidori would be less funny - when a girl hits her boyfriend, it's hilarious, when a boy hits his girlfriend, it's abuse. Double standards in action!

Tessa and her brother would just switch places.

Female Gauron would probably be even more scary. Female Gates would surely be even more scary.

Damnit. We need to get our pronouns straight! I can't tell whether you two are referring to Kyonko or Kyon. Kyon as a guy would not wear a sarashi. It would make no sense. So, it makes sense to be referring to Kyonko, and if so, use "she" please!

The question is whether Haruhi would go for Kyonko, since Kyonko is flat-chested and Haruhi's past actions indicate that she finds busty girls attractive, being as how Mikuru is the one she openly mauls.

So by proving that Kyon, who Haruhi does like, is not hiding thoroughly uber boobage somewhere, we can demonstrate that Haruhi does indeed go for underbreasted individuals, and could thus also plausibly go for Kyonko.

So they're talking about Kyon.

Also i think that ultimately personality matters more to her than looks and Kyonko is still fundamentally the same person as Kyon. And provided that the circumstances are similar then she probably would react similarly to Kyon, at least supposing that we accept that she is bisexual.

Ah, but Haruhi only likes Mikuru's big breasts because she's moe moe. You can be moe moe without having huge breasts, so Kyonko has a chance. Anyway, my knowledge of Ranma 1/2, Tenshi no Konamaiki and Kashimashi Girl meets Girl show that gender flipped guys are rarely lacking in this particular department.

Generaly it's: b=n+x, where b is the gender-flipped male's breast size, n is the breast size of the gender flipped male's closest female friend and x is a number sufficient to annoy the female friend.

I'm pretty sure Haruhi is genuinely attracted to large breasted women. She has /far/ too much fun while fondling her breasts, and she does so for no apparent reason (I sincerely doubt Kyon was unaware of the X-Block she has on her chest before she was groping her). Taht with a few other lines in the show, and the ear-biting (Which as we all know is how lesbians mark their mates) makesit pretty abundantly clear that there's animal attraction there, at least.

But yes, I was saying that since Kyon has no boobs, and she does indeed love him, we can extrapolate from this that she /can/ like people who do not have prodigious chests.

It would be pretty shallow of Haruhi if she was utterly incapable of liking people who didn't fall into arbitary phenotypes. Some people I know think Haruhi is a selfish rapist but that doesn't mean she has every negative trait you can think of.

It's also very possible to have varied tastes. If she is bisexual (which as fanon is hardly without basis), breasts can't really be involved in her taste of men at all. In fact this entire discussion is rather stupid as well as confused. I'd blame Frosty for starting it if he wasn't merely making a suggestion (and didn't appear to be as confused as me).

Attilargh

Rutee, what I mean is, perhaps her taste in BOYS doesn't necessarily include size or moe as a factor, but her taste in GIRLS may. So while she make like Kyon, she may not like Kyonko because the standards for judging *may* have changed.

That said, let's flip it around. Would Kyonko like Haruhi?

Terraoblivion
2008-04-01, 03:28 PM
If we accept that she is bisexual or lesbian, which we have to for the discussion to have a point, i don't see why not. What i see as the fundamental aspect of this discussion is that Kyon and Kyonko are still quite similar people and as such they would probably have close to the same reaction to Haruhi's personality, which is what i really consider to be what matters. As such i would say that, yes, the traits that attract Kyon and Haruhi to each other would also attract Kyonko and Haruhi to each other if we allow both of them to be attracted to girls.

Frosty
2008-04-01, 03:42 PM
So there are multiple questions:

1) Do you think it likely that Kyonko is bisexual, openly or secretly?

2) If yes, and secretly, what do you think her views on it would be? Would she think it's something shameful or inconvenient because society may look down upon that kind of behavior?

3) If so, would that further complicate her admitting her feelings for Haruhi? If Kyonko openly accepts her bisexuality, would she probably run into the same amount of trouble admitting the relationship as if she were Kyon?

Even if it's canon, if you take it further than those really obvious hints, you stray into fanon.

So there are multiple questions:

Yay!

1) Do you think it likely that Kyonko is bisexual, openly or secretly?

It doesn't matter, we have the Kinsey scale remember?

2) If yes, and secretly, what do you think her views on it would be? Would she think it's something shameful or inconvenient because society may look down upon that kind of behavior?

We have to look at Kyon's personality for this. He doesn't want to stand out so he wouldn't admit it to everyone. He tries to hide his attraction to girls from other people but not to the audience.

3) If so, would that further complicate her admitting her feelings for Haruhi? If Kyonko openly accepts her bisexuality, would she probably run into the same amount of trouble admitting the relationship as if she were Kyon?

Kyonko would be just as oblivious about Haruki's feelings for her as Kyon is. Since Haruhi is so blatently interested in Mikuru, this may make Kyonko feel more normal.

Basically, few people are totally straight or totally gay. The Kinsey scale is a gradient running from "completely heterosexual" to "completely homosexual" with "bisexual" in the middle.

Anyway, I caught the start of this thread and got interested in the series when I looked it up on TVTropes. I managed to catch some dubbed episodes *somewhere*, and I have to admit that this series is surprisingly awesome. It's the second Anime/Manga I've honestly enjoyed in a long time.

What I meant (I'll admit I have bad communication skills) was that if Haruhi is constantly playing with Mikuru in an obvious way, this may make Kyonko more relaxed about that sort of thing. Alternatively it would just scar her as much as it scars Mikuru.

Trust me there are people who have shipped Kyon and Kyonko. I saw a link to a 4-chan thread containing a set of pictures of how the characters would react if they met their opposite version. Kyon and Kyonko had sex in it.

Anyway unless we change Kyonko's personality substantially from Kyon's she is probably strictly heterosexual like he appears to be. It doesn't concern me too much though as we need to do quite a few work-arounds to have Kyonko meet Haruhi anyway, so i wouldn't be bothered if she was made bi for shipping purposes as long as it wasn't taken too seriously. As for how she would express it, i would say she would do like Kyon and hide it from everybody including herself, while doing it incompletely enough that it is obvious to the audience.

And that is really an immensely cute wallpower, Gorbash. I would use it for my desktop had it been the right size. Also it goes well with Kagami, when it comes to cuteness.

Depends. If you're only changing a single aspect of Kyon, then she'll still be attracted to girls. Kyonko only remains heterosexual if you assume that heterosexual/homosexual is the paradigm. If you assume that sexuality in fact works in a differant way and is in fact better expressed as androphilic/gynophilic (eg attracted to boys/attracted to girls) then Kyonko could be gynophilic while retaining Kyon's personality. A genetic study once suggested that a gene that may be a factor in homosexuality in men was evolutionary advantageous because the gene will also cause their sisters to have more children.

Then again, if you're reversing everything gender related about Kyon, then he would still be heterosexual even using my dodgy paradigm.

Yes, I do (http://check.animeblogger.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/luckystar20070922045800.jpg).

(Actually, they're fairly different. Kagami snarks at her friends, and her role as the straight man is in shooting down or pointing out their silliness, allowing them to achieve new heights in reaction. Kyon snarks about his friends, in a commentary, and it's their own weirdness that fuels them. There's nothing really like the Konami dynamic in SHnY.

I mostly did indeed mean that everything gender related has been changed about Kyon to arrive at Kyonko, as that is what the evidence points at. In the same vein i am going with nothing else that hasn't been shown being changed beyond this. It might not be entirely true, but it is a fairly decent for a working theory.

And i think there are similarities between Kyonko and Kagami, even as they possess fairly clear differences. Kamikasei has touched on one of the clear ones, but there is also the difference that Kagami is nowhere near as apathetic as Kyon and by extension Kyonko. Still there are similar personality traits, most clearly the nature as straight man for the show.

As for my resolution it is 1280x1024, if that helps Gorbash.

Kyon isn't really apathetic is he? He really doesn't want most of the stuff he sees to happen (at least on the surface, logical level of his brain). I guess Kagami is more vocal, but that's because Kagami isn't up against Haruhi.

The wallpaper is beyond moe. It has taken Moe and distilled the very pure essense of "squee!" from it into a hyper-condensed form. A form so concentrated that it emits it own gravitational field that attracts anyone remotely receptive to cute!

I thought squee was just the fangirl version of moe.

Squee is the verbal version of anything that would yield the textual response of "<3!" It has no single gender.

It may have a more specific fandom meaning that I'm not very familiar with, but I know and use it as a general sound of delight. It'd be the same response used for sufficiently cool art as for the news that Pratchett's Alzheimer's diagnosis was a false positive. Although I'd run out of breath and pass out before I stopped squeeing for one of those.

It's stereotypicaly feminine, which isn't the same thing as being limited to girls in the slightest.

As for my resolution it is 1280x1024, if that helps Gorbash.
5:4 aspect ratio, eh? Can do.

Squee is a legendary goblin from MTG. He's know for eating living bugs, being annoying, coming back to life several times by himself, being annoying and being a powerfull combo card.

It's widely known that Squee has started to invade the Haruhi universe in the form of gaming cards, as it can bee seen in some of the episodes. Since goblins don't seem to vary much by gender, however, he managed to keep his disguise in this new transgender universe.

Just adding to the randomness.

Maybe it's more of the pose + the smile, and if you're already used to the smile you don't notice it.

Anyway: Dodgy smile + slight blush + mole + tilted head + one hand on hip + just avoiding confident pose + inapropriate school uniform + stretching + flat topped eyelids = 9 points of sluttyness.

Yes, I know I just described everything in the picture and I haven't prooved anything.

Nah, it would surely have prompted some comment. She's just that tropeful.

Tropeful is a word now? What's next "tropetic"?, "tropesome"? "tropic"? "tropery"? "Trope Ness"?

Yes, one of those is already a word and another is a made up Scottish Lake

You forgot to mention the ahoge.

Ah yes, I did. Thankyou for pointing that out and would you now kindly explain what that means.

According to the dictionary, the adjective form is tropical.

The ahoge is that part of her hair in the middle that sticks up on it's own.

It's a perfectly cromulent word, not to mention a tropelicious one.

And I can't imagine "trope" has been a word for that long. Welcome to the intarnets, and the evolution of language.

It's the thing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahoge) on top of her head, the gravity-defying lock of hair. You know when she's supposed to meet the twins and they don't realize she's there because she's wearing a hat? It's the "that thing" without which Kagami says she couldn't recognize her.

I see. Nice to be have someone out otaku me once in a while. I don't think it's particularly sluttish though, which is what I was trying to explain

So it's actually older than Wikipedia's estimated date for modern English by 17 years. That doesn't count as recent.

Also known as Baka Hair (for TV Tropes enthusiasts). It's also the sole reason why her official height is over 4 feet.

I never trusted official figures. Too often they're written by some maniac who works in the TV station and scribbles down some figures that he thinks look correct.

True. Over on TV Tropes, it says somewhere that someone once listed Toph's height as 5' 1". She's the shortest character on the show, and some people are at least twice as tall as her. Do the math.
