If I wanted to buy an item that lets me change the elemental energy type (not including sonic) of a spell on the fly as I cast it 2/day, how much would it cost? It's a +0 metamagic, but it's about as useful as a Bracers of arcane freedom, which is 2/day Still Spell, so same price of 2300?

There is indeed a use, force damage for those pesky etheral foes.

Depends if you want, or can find, an appropriate body slot for it. If so, 2300 sounds fine. If not, double that or thereabouts.

But yeah. Nice item to have, but not really "powerful" by anybody's standard.

1) No Force Damage, that's not an elemental energy type.

2) Rods of Energy Substitution are 2,700gp. 2/3rds the price for 2 instead of three charges. 1000gp. Half price for using a slot. 500gp. X4 for being any energy type: 2000gp.

I'd go with a Rod of Energy Substitution with 2 uses/day instead of 3 and all four energy substitution options. Chosen of Vecna's math is off, though.

For something which took up a slot, it'd be 2700 * 2/3 * 1/2 * 4 = 3600 gp. If it didn't take up a slot, it'd be twice that, or 7200 gp.

That'd allow you to make any spell into acid, cold, fire, or electrical damage 2x/day.

Thanks, I wondered why that seemed so cheap. I just said 2,700gp is about 3000 but then accidentally used 1000 instead of the 2000 I was going to use.
