Why do people keep saying the scenes are "different"?

They're identical. The panel from the webcomic is the same panel that appears in the prequel book. We just get more context in the prequel book.

In the strip, Xykon clearly defeats Fyron magically--see the flashback in strip #78. In SoD, Xykon loses the magical battle, then beats Fyron to death with his own Wizzie award.

I'd disagree. In the strip Xykon is not shown defeating Fyron. He is shown raising Fyron as a zombie, just as he did in SoD. In fact the panels are pretty much identical. Eugene shouting no (which he didn't do when Fyron died). The only difference is you don't hear Xykon saying Anmate Dead, maybe because Eugene didn't hear that or the giant just didn't bother to put it in the main comic.)

Pick up the book. Go to that page. Look at the comic linked above. THEY ARE IDENTICAL. The magical effect is the same and everything.


It's not like it's difficult to prove this for yourself. And if you don't have the book, don't argue with people who are actually holding the book in thier hands right now.
