Leaf Round 2 part 2

Leaf commands the loitering canine (Y13) to attack. [roll0] The dog doesn't react.

@refsIf Leaf readies an action to handle his animal companion, does the animal's action also interrupt Krull? Or would the animal be treated as delaying, and fulfill the command after Krull finishes his turn?

Not done.

@Refs:
This task involves commanding an animal to perform a task or trick that it knows. If the animal is wounded or has taken any nonlethal damage or ability score damage, the DC increases by 2. If your check succeeds, the animal performs the task or trick on its next action.

Arena ruling has limited special initiative actions to creatures with Int 3 or greater, and the ability to communicate with the player. Thus, the animal cannot delay. It will perform whatever action a player specifies, on its next action, which is on the player's next initiative count. Is this correct?

Match on hold while I verify something.

@Refs

This is a tricky one... I'd say that since the animal goes on the same turn, any initiative modifying action that the owner takes, would also be taken by the pet. Just to keep things simpler.

The pet itself would waiting to receive commands on its owners turn, and can't do anything on any other initiative count.

Also, since the owner has to give up his round and burn his standard action on a HA check, its not like its really advantages to do so.

@Mavian, Refs:

Yeah, my only issue is that Kyeudo's already ruled that mounts can't ready actions at their rider's direction. Delay seems reasonable, but if that's the case, then the mount would go after the action that triggered it, and it would jank up initiative counts. But I'll take this one whichever way you feel is best.

@Talic, Refs

Actually, I'm fairly certain that in my match with Chile, he ruled that a mount couldn't ready an action on its own, but a rider could ready an action to make his mount do something

Talic

@Refs, Leaf:If you ready an action to act with your mount, the mount interrupts also.

Maurkov
2008-04-10, 01:36 PM
@refsOkay, thanks. But a companion fulfills the command on its next action. (I found the citation in the SRD) Maybe I shouldn't have dismounted.

Leaf commands the other dog, Max to attack. Max surges forward (O15), but then Leaf calls him to guard instead. (Free actions to [roll0] [roll1]). Max growls at Krull in warning.

Leaf then waits for something. Ready action:If Krull throws the jav, Leaf will move to get full cover.

Done.

What path does he take to Q15? To O18? Max the dog was guarding O15, so I think there's an AoO in there someplace.

[roll0] [roll1] [roll2]

@refsI don't think there's any place within 10' that provides full cover from Q15, but let me know if I'm mistaken

We'll actually need a rewind. There's no way for Krull to go from J14 to Q15 in 40 feet without passing through O15. Krull cannot pass through O15, however, as it is occupied by an opponent. Rewind to beginning of action, restate your movement, Krull.
