View Full Version : 18 - Apparently important

So, apparently there are millions and millions of people who are under the impression that the age of 18 has some mystical importance. Somehow it makes one wiser, smarter, or more experienced and able to handle the world. I am 18 now, and I didn't feel a change.

Regardless.

Ladies, I'm legal now. They day you've marked on your calendars has finally arrived. Sorry to have kept you waiting.

Dude, what country are you in? The age of legal consent in my country is 14. I've never been to a country where it's over 16. I'm 4 years younger than you, and I was legal since last year!

Well, I'm not entirely sure anyway.

Heh, only just saw the first reply.

Age of consent in the US varies from state to state. Where I live, it's technically 16. However, there's messy business with minors of the age of consent and non-minors. If I were to, at this time, get it on with a 16-year-old, I'm pretty sure there'd be legal issues. Also, age of consent does not exceed 18 anywhere in the country, so I'm good to travel quite a distance.

Well, where I am the legal drinking age is 18. Maybe a trip to Australia is in order?

21: Alcohol all over the world!
25: Insurance reduces and (if you're American then you can become a US Representative)
30: (American specific) You can be a Senator!
35: (American Specific) You can be a President!
55: Mmmmmmmm AARP (or if you're not in USA then you're a "senior citizen" This age varies between 55 and 60)
and finally the most important

DEATH.

Happy Birthday?

In canada, they have a system sorta like that: The age of consent is 16, except that 14 and 15-year olds are allowed to get it on with anyone up to 10 years above them. So I'm legal, in a roundabout way.

Nope you most certainly do not I guess I was thrown by the following

1) Brickwall - such a masculine sounding name implying stength, toughness, solidness and manual labour hairy chested bricklayers. If your name was PrincessAngelFairy I wouldn't have been confused at all.

2) There's a sig mention of Chuck Norris - I mean...well what's not manly about that eh?

3)I'm lazy and haven't looked at the you thread for quite some time..ever since Serpentine said I looked like a Dad...but not because of that, just because I've been busy.

Almost true, but Dutch legal age starts at 16 when you're
1. allowed to buy light alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, mix-drinks)
2. Ride a moped or scooter (first get a certificate)
3. allowed to have sex.

at 17 you may live on your own and start driving lessons

at 18 you may buy the stronger alcohol and marihuana, get your driving liscense for cars or motorcycles, go to a prostitute etc... you will also get more own responsibility for your life.

It doesn't get that much easier to find ladies when you're older, though. Unless you count going into bars, which I probably won't when I'm 21+.

Apart from voting, I'd already done everything being 18 legally entitled me to doing way before my 18th. Considering I was taken home at about midnight on my 18th (pretty much paraletic from excessive vodka), my last birthday was remarkably underwhelming. :smalltongue:
