What On Earth Is Up With Search?

What is with the 300-second time limit between searches? If I make a typo I have to wait five minutes to try again? What possible reason can there be for such a policy?

Reduces strain on the servers, or some such. It is rather annoying, but you can search the GitP forums with google nice and quick.

Reduces server strain, since putting a word into the search engine searches EVERY SINGLE WORD IN EVERY SINGLE THREAD IN THAT SECTION SINCE THE BEGINING OF THE BOARD. (Unless you specify otherwise, which most people don't bother with)
