I'm going to need to get a ruling on the plausibility of that action... because nowhere in the description of the glass does it say that smashing an intersection breaks all the attached glass.

It's been done in previous matches, in the other glass arena. If you'd prefer, however, I'll be more than happy to restrict it to a 5x5 square (M/N 13, ground level), and we can go from there.

Yeah, Paladin's done it in a couple rounds, if my memory's correct. Once I finish compiling my Rulings Archive, I'll be able to link things like this.

I do recall nobody's challenged the action, to my knowledge, so there was never any official ruling on it. Just that it's been done.

Also, this arena does use panes, whereas the other refers to glass as walls, which could mean differences in the way it's handled.

Will post move soon as I can access the arena map here. Neglected to save the pic and e-mail it to myself prior to leaving for work, sigh.

I haven't seen the previous use of shattering 4 panes, but unless this was dealt with previously, I'd say 3 of the panes shattered.

The damage should be spread as evenly as possible so if you did 8 damage, each pane would get 2 damage. As is: spread evenly 3 panes would shatter and 1 would be intact with 1 hp left. Let's say upper left is 1 and go clockwise based on attackers perspective. Indicated pane is still intact [roll0].

Personally, after looking at the map's wordings, this map treats each 5x5 section as a seperate pane (doesn't for the other map). Rules don't allow shattering multiple objects with one attack (I didn't notice the difference in wording until Mavian brought it up). I'm willing to scrub the action entirely, as it will likely not have a serious impact on the match.

Yes, I know this is arguing AGAINST my own actions. But it seems like the correct interpretation, to me.

I'll weigh in on that. I'd say since it is separate panes, you can't target an intersection unless you could normally target an intersection, like with a splash weapon.

I drew a little map in paint to maker sure my path was right. I also do not believe you get either cover or concealment from my attack. Also if my first attack misses, I will be changing my move.

You're absolutely right, which is a good thing. After all, if we're getting technical, the tumble skill is listed as only being usable as part of a move action. :)

Well, if a bit of Formatting will take care of both... Let's get the formatting on.

Greenscales - Round 9.

If you're on top:Move: to T10/U11.
Attack Glass at Q10, with the guisarme.

Damage (Guisarme): [roll1]

If the glass under you shatters, you should fall. I'm not sure if you'll pass the tumble check, so the damage may be lessened from the fall. That's yours to roll.


If you are on the bottom:Move: to Q11/R12.
Standard: Melee touch attack (grapple): [roll2]
Opposed grapple check: [roll3]
Damage (if successful): [roll4]

Grapple mod is +9 str, +1 BAB, +4 size, +4 Improved Grapple.

An attacker who is prone has a -4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow).

Sorry, the attack would've missed (-4 for improvised vs AC 11).

I'm surprised none of the javelins hit, to be honest. The ease that your guy switches from range to melee is awesome, incidentally. Very versatile character.

Yeah, apperently what ever source of luck I have for the arena, you just cap.

Winning on a 1% chance on the last match, and then about a 10% chance of all my attacks missing in this one.
