Infractions?

Would I know if I had an infraction? I don't think I've violated any board rules, but I'd like to know so as to avoid it in the future.

As you can see, it's pretty obvious :smallbiggrin: Plus, you get a neat PM from a mod that issued the infraction so there is no way you could not know.

No, it isn't. The worst part is they brand you for life. Those infractions NEVER go away; even if you spend fifty years on the forums they will still be there.

Major Infractions
These are offenses that will garner you an Infraction from a Mod and most likely a modification of the offending post. Major Infractions have a 24 month expiration time and are worth 100 points.

Minor Infractions
These are offenses that will garner you an Infraction from a Mod and most likely a modification of the offending post. Minor Infractions have a 12 month expiration time and are worth 50 points.


Please Don’t
These are offenses that will not typically result in an Infraction or banning upon the first offense, thus being issued as Warnings. However, repeated violations will eventually result in an Infraction. In some cases a Mod may edit a post or post an in thread message saying “Please don’t do that,” or (more likely) issue you a Warning under the "Please Don't" category. Please Don’t offenses have a 6 month expiration, and are worth 25 points when issued as an Infraction.

Then I apologize; I did not see that. That is what I get for not doing the research. However, it is way too long in this poster's opinion. At least quarter the time to six month for major and three months for minor. By that time the offender should have learned his lesson (assuming he has not violated any other rules).

There was a time when infractions were permanent. But they added expiration times around the same time we changed board software (circa October 2006).
