hey guys I was entertaining the idea of a bunch of weird npc in a gestalt game that had their classes contradict each other but the problem was i could not think of that many so i thought i would do as i always do when i think of something cool or weird... i post it here....

one of the requirements is that the only books that are usable are the complete series, and anything found in the SRD... and remember just because it is weird does not mean it must be lame... and no cop outs like the barbarian monk...

to start things off....

The Ninja 1 / Bard 1

How he contradicts: the ninja is meant to be hidden and silent and the Bard is meant to be seen and heard... together you get a fellow who is hidden in plain sight (no not the ability)

he would use his high charisma to create effective disguises and to bluff his way past guards...then when he is all alone with his target BAM! sudden strike with the dagger hidden in the lute...

ironically this combo is great for the assassin prestige class because he could only study those for his death attack that don't find him a threat... and compared to the big burly barbarian the puny fellow with a lute is no threat

Factotum//Beguiler. One's the ultimate generalist, the other's one of the most specialized classes in the game (Dread Necromancer and Healer work for this too). And together they're pretty terrifying.

Samurai//Monk. One's signature abilities is based around particular weapons, the other's is based around not using weapons at all. No real synergy here (and a boatload of suck), although to be honest a Monk with a bastard sword is closer to historical Samurai than the CW Samurai class is.

Wilder//Monk. Wilders epitomize "chaos" more than any other class (even Barbarian, I'd say), yet technically can be lawful and hence the combo is legal. Again, fairly high levels of Fail, but Crystal Shard and similar powers give a decent offensive punch to compliment the high Monk survivability.

Dread.Necro//Healer. Life and death. Alignment might be an issue though, I'm AFB.

True Neutral:
Dread Necromancer on one side
Cleric of Neutral Good sun god on the other.

Take Sun domain.

One side's about making undead, the other side's about killing them.

You can't do that; only neutral gods can have neutral clerics.

...And no, he can't do anything.

i'm pretty sure the wiz side of the equation gives him literacy.

Then make it a neutral sun deity that has turn rather than rebuke.

Okay. I thought the good alignment was the important bit, as you could have an evil sun god if you wanted to ("It burns!").

One's about knowing everything and magic. The other's about not caring what it is, as long as it can be hit.

So he needs to be LN, with the diety being LG.

How about Wizard/Sorcerer?

One is inclined to huge amounts of studying to learn magic while the other has it innately. Plus... craptastic amounts of spells

Most of these listed are not really so much contradictory as they are complimentary...

Anyway....

Wait for it....

Race Warforged

{table]LVL|A-Side|B-Side
1|Wizard1|Druid1
2|Wizard2|Druid2
3|Wizard3|Druid3
4|Wizard4|Druid4
5|Wizard5|Druid5
6|Wizard6|Reforged1
7|Wizard7|Reforged2
8|Wizard8|Reforged3
9|G.S.A.1|Druid6
10|G.S.A.2|Druid7
11|G.S.A.3|Druid8
12|G.S.A.4|Druid9
13|G.S.A.5|Druid10
14|G.S.A.6|Druid11
15|G.S.A.7|Druid12
16|G.S.A.8|Druid13
17|G.S.A.9|Druid14
18|G.S.A.10|Druid15
19|Fighter1|Planar Shepherd1
20|Fighter2|Planar Shepherd2[/table]

Now, obviously this can be done much, much faster if you are allowing doubling up on PrCs. This is made more for the opposition qualities though.

You start as a contruct, become more and more alive via Reforged....

Just to throw it all away as a Green Star Adept (listed as GSA on the chart); the final two levels are the weakest class (fighter) paired with the strongest (planar shepherd - well one of the strongest anyway) you just aren't getting all the benefits.

In an ideal situation of double PrCs, you would ride out GSA and PS at the same time for maximum win.

Change fighter to samurai, and then you'll have something.

And together they're pretty terrifying. No class with 6 skill points can be fairly called "one of the most specialized classes in the game". The fighter is a lot more specialized than the beguiler. I'll concede the point on the Healer, though.

Healer//Fighter/Barb/FB 10

One side is about healing people with magic, and the other is about indiscriminate killing in melee.

Rogue//Paladin

The archetypes associated with these two classes are frequently at odds with each other.

Scout/Dervish//Fighter/Dwarven Defender

One is based on moving around, and the other on holding your position.

Silver dragon racial progression // dragonslayer

Keeping the mountains clear of red dragons, despite the irony. Actually a highly suboptimal choice, as much of dragonslayer is redundant with draconic hit dice.

Evangelist // spymaster

One's about telling the whole world the things that are most important to you, the other never gives a straight answer. Together, they make a very capable social manipulator.

Evolved vampire // sorcerer / blood magus

Because it's always about the blood. Actually, with the evolved cha bonus, this one's awfully powerful.

Wizard / loremaster // archivist / divine oracle

One knows all the past, the other all the future. Despite some overlap, this one's extremely powerful (as most wizard//archivist variants are).

I'd say the Fighter is more versitile - there's a massive amounts of feats out there, and thousands of ways of playing the Fighter (even if many of them are complete bollox), anything from power-hitting to archery to grapple to meatwad smash (cleave/whirlwind) to reactive attacks (Robilar/karmic) to lockdown to mounted charger to shield specialist, each of which has its own varied strengths and weaknesses (respectively: anti-soft-target dps, bypassing DR, shutdown, crowd control, anti-melee dps, battlefield control, dps in open spaces, tanking). Beguilers on the other hand... do Enchantment and Illusion (from what I've seen: Will-save-or-lose, will-save-or-suck, and a sprinkling of nonlethal dps and utility). They do it very well, and are quite effective within their niche, but it's still a niche. They do get nice skillpoints, but those are more of a garnish and seem to exist solely so a team with a Beguiler won't need a Rogue as well.

But sure, let's go with Factotum//Dread.Necro

I'm sensing amusement along the lines of:

Diety: Son, I order you to go do my alignment things on the world!
Kid: You're not the boss of me, dad!

Personally, I'd see it more as the Fighter only being able to do one thing: Combat. Sure, there are a ton of different ways the fighter can do combat, but it's still only one role. The Beguiler can also do combat (though not in as many ways), but he can also do social interactions, and recon, and dungeoneering.

This is one of the things that bugs me about 4th edition: All of the classes are being defined in terms of their role in combat, when some classes' roles aren't in combat at all.

Sorcerer // Fighter/Occult Slayer

On one hand you could argue that they have to commit suicide... or you could go with the following belief system:
"Only I deserve to wield this power! All others must die!"
It could be pretty fun to mess around with.
