I imagine that the orcs wanted to keep banjo and Elan refused. Perhaps trying to barter with other puppets (hostages?).

At least we now know why Elan said there were hostages, but Daigo said that there was only one. Clearly, the hostages are Lien and Banjo.

Why would they attack Banjo's high priest. True, Elan doesn't have any levels in cleric, and Banjo isn't even divine rank zero yet, but he's still Banjo's cleric, though maybe it screws up the whole cleric deity from the tiny fact Elan made Banjo and NOT the other way around (when a deity is supposed to create their first worshipper!).

And I'm wondering why V hasn't dropped dead yet.

With only one follower Banjo was able to do (exceedingly) minor smiting (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0080.html) - so now he should be able to actually get someone's attention.

In Banjo's defence, it was impressive that he could even create a pointlessly tiny lightning bolt with just 1 follower. Presumably, the fact that sleep depravation doesn't do anything except for stopping full casters from recovering their spell slots is responsible for stopping V fom dying from not sleeping.

I don't think so. He talked about becoming a wizard (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0126.html), but then gave that up (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0128.html). I read this to mean that he took another level of bard. (Then there was the whole 'dashing swordsman' thing.)

If he got enough followers, there's a chance that he would become sentinet (he would probably need a lot of followers, unless Thor promotes him before then).

Well, Deities cannot be weakened from a lack of worshippers but they get stronger from more. And after a certain critical density of worship it becomes a new deity, if it is a dead person, his soul is pulled out of petitioner form or wherever plane he was in, if the guy is still alive, he ascends, if it is a inanimate object it gains ability scores. While the FC2 never specified what is this density, I do believe it can work with just one worshiper if said person is devout enough, which is why banjo could pull of a small smite. All those orcs would Make banjo at least a demi god. Possibly even a Greater god, If they are all devout enough, thus displacing Gruumsh.

I'm guessing that, after Elan invoked Banjo's godhood, the orcs grabbed Banjo, or Elan dropped him, and as he became instantly un-animated, they decided Elan et al had murdered their god.

BLASPHEMY!! Banjo is raised to godhood by Odin in the battle with the snarl but his youger god status makes him able to kill the snarl, and thus become a high god and KILL CTHULU!!
