It is not permitted to reply to a thread that raises a topic that has been discussed before with spam, including (but not limited to) pretending to inflict harm on the original poster. This is not a change in the rules; spam posts have always been forbidden and warrant an infraction.

The proper response to a topic that has been discussed before is to post a link in the thread to the most recent thread discussing that topic, then report the post to the moderators so that they can close it as a duplicate thread. Or, if that is too much effort, simply ignore it.

It is imperative that forum members who have been here longer and/or spend a greater amount of time reading every single thread realize that this forum is intended to be equally accessible to both themselves and new members, who may only have discovered this forum hours before. As in, if a new member wants to discuss a topic that has been discussed previously, they are specifically permitted to do so. The only issue would be in which thread that discussion takes place. Members who do not wish to discuss a topic that has been discussed before are advised to simply not read (or more to the point, not respond to) any topic they have already explored.

Further, remember that insulting or belittling a person who posts a thread topic that has been discussed before is flaming, and will earn an additional infraction if it occurs.

EDIT: Due to the large number of posts that require warnings, not all posts that have earned warnings will get one. Generally, we have tried not to warn the same poster more than once for this behavior, and some threads have yet to be reviewed for warnings at all. The lack of a warning in your PM inbox at this time should not be construed as permission to continue!
