My biggest problem with the OotS-style pictures I'm making is with the hair. Let me show you what I mean:

As you can probably see, I have little problem with black hair, or when I can reasonably make it all in one piece. Hair like Haley's or Vaarsuvius', on the other hand, causes me no end of irritation. Do any of you know of a good way to make parted hair in Inkscape?
(For the record, I did look at the instructions in Trazoi's tutorial, but I can't use pencil tools very well at all. I'm much more comfortable using the node tool on a rectangle, oval, or pen shape.)
