DEATHTOUCHED

Description
Deathtouched creatures are those who have been scarred by the horrifying effects of Necromancy. Born of a vampire, cursed by a lich, victor of an immortal conflict, or merely a survivor of a terrible encounter with undeath. Most appear more pale and feral than normal versions of their races.
There are four types of deathtouched: Cursed, Tormented, Jaded, and Haunted. When this template is applied, the deathtouched type must be selected.

Application
This template can be applied to any living creature.

Size and Type
Animals change their type to magical beast and all other creatures add the augmented subtype.

Armor Class
All deathtouched except Haunted gain a +1 bonus to natural armor. Haunted gain a +1 insight bonus to armor class.

Darkvision (Su)
All deathtouched have a darkvision out to 60 feet.

Death's Mark (Su)
Deathtouched emit a faint aura of undeath which is detectable by a detect undead spell. Although they themselves are not undead and will not appear undead according to the spell, such a spell continually registers that undead are nearby when a deathtouched is in its effect radius. Also, deathtouched always take half damage/healing from positive and negative energy effects.

Detect Undead (Sp)
Deathtouched can use detect undead at will as a spell-like ability.

Fear Aura (Su)
Jaded deathtouched emit an aura of fear. Living creatures with less HD than the jaded deathtouched that are within a 30-foot radius must succeed on a Will save or be affected as though by a cause fear spell. Save is Charisma-based. CL = HD. A successful save provides the creature with an immunity to the particular deathtouched creature's fear aura for 24 hours. A deathtouched creature may suppress or resume this ability as a free action.

Lesser Energy Drain (Sp)
Tormented deathtouched gain the following spell-like abilities: At will-touch of fatigue, 3/day-ray of enfeeblement. CL = HD. Saves are Charisma-based.

Lesser Blood Drain (Ex)
Cursed deathtouched deal 1d2 points of Constitution damage to a pinned target every round they keep them pinned. Every point of Constitution damage dealt grants 1 temporary hit point to the deathtouched creature (to a maximum of 5 x HD of deathtouched creature). These temporary hit points last 1 hour.

Ghost Sight (Su/Sp)
Haunted deathtouched can see and hear creatures on the ethereal plane within 30 feet of them. They may also use ghost strike as a spell-like ability three times per day. Ghost Strike: The caster causes the target's natural and wielded weapons to become ghost touch weapons for 1 round per caster level. CL = HD. Saves are Charisma-based.

Ability Scores
Jaded: Str +2, Wis +2, Cha +2.
Cursed: Str +2, Dex +2, Cha +2.
Tormented: Int +2, Wis +2, Cha +2.
Haunted: Dex +2, Wis +2, Cha +2.

Challenge Rating: +1

Level Adjustment: +1

FLUFF

Jaded
Jaded deathtouched are usually created after an encounter with a Death Knight or Mummy or similar undead of knight-like or noble-like origin. They always have a pale sickly green hue to their skin and their hair is usually much thinner and darker or paler than normally (typical pitch black or pale white). They also appear stronger and commanding with their eyes darkened to almost pitch black or reddened.
Jaded deathtouched can be spawned by a mortal being affected by a death knight's abilities and surviving after a long battle, being cursed by a death knight, being cured of undeath after becoming a deathknight, or being exposed to the presence of death knights for prolonged periods of time.

Cursed
Cursed deathtouched are usually created after an encounter with a Vampire or similar undead of roguish or noble origin. Their skin is always a shade or two lighter than normal for their race and their head hair usually a bit longer while the rest of them is usually hairless or at least less hairy. They also appear a lot more gaunt and lithe than normal. Their eyes are usually brightened or made completely black.
Cursed deathtouched can be spawned by a mortal surviving a vampire's bite or being cursed by a vampire or exposed to the presence of vampires for prolonged periods of time or even simply by drinking the blood of other creatures of their type for long periods of time.

Tormented
Tormented deathtouched are usually created after an encounter with a Mummy or Deathbringer or Lich similar undead of great power. Their features can vary greatly but they almost always appear more gaunt and feral and have a tendency to appear unkempt, even when cleaned and well-dressed simply because of the effects on their hair and bone structure.
Tormented deathtouched can be spawned by many numerous things including a mortal being cursed by a lich, surviving a Mummy's touch, or even just being in the presence of such creatures for prolonged periods of time.

Haunted
Haunted deathtouched are created by mortal encountering ghosts and spectres and shadows and wraiths and other incorporeal or ethereal undead. Their features are hardly any different than normal for their race, but their behavior is drastically altered usually much more nervous and jumpy almost to the degree of paranoia. They are constantly listening in on things which occur in the ethereal realm and thus often times become confused or frightened for little to no reason.
Haunted deathtouched can be spawned by many numerous ways, but usually its simply surviving a special attack or two from a ghost or other ethereal or incoporeal undead or possibly even being possessed or in the presence of such creatures for prolonged periods of time.

looks cool, but could you either describe the subtypes, or link to somewhere that they are listed?

other than that, this is very cool.

Looks a bit strong for LA +1 - LA +2 might be more fair, but it's not completely unbalanced. These definitely look interesting, though.

Nice, I like this but I would suggest including fluff to differentiate between the different types.

The Augmented Subtype is listed about one or two pages down in big bold letters.

I used the Draconic template to compare for level adjustment. The abilities don't strike me as too powerful but if I'm outnumbered on that opinion I could add higher ability score adjustments and make it LA +2. Unless people have other ideas to add?

More fluff you say? Sure thing. I'm on it.
