I have to admit that I become bored with "The Dungeon - Interactive Adventure" of some reason.
I had planned the plot quite far but..
Well maybe I will continue with it later.

Now this is a somehow similar project but this will be a bit more like an normal D&D campaign but without the rules.
So I am going to be some sort of DM and you as in a normal D&D campaign are going to create your own character, but without the stats just some kind of back story.
You can be almost any character you want but you might want to limit your own power level otherwise this would be too easy.
Write down all the abilities you have so we know your limitations and your powers.
Remember that you can not do anything you have not mentioned on your character.

Anyway If you like to start now just post a character (you do not even need a back story).

I am going to begin this game once anyone posts a character.

You can start with some basic item yes, just not some epic swords or anything.

Edit: lets begin shall we... more people can join later if they want.

Double edit: Since I am going to bed soon anyway I guess we can wait until tomorrow (in my time-zone) until we begin.
That way more people can join and I can work a bit more with the beginning area.

Is this the sort of thing you wanted? I was going to have my chaacter starting at level 1, so he shouldn't be too powerful.

Age: 21
Height: Tall guy
Weight: Slim
Equipment: Clothes on his back, dagger, club, spellbook, crossbow, bolts
Backstory: Apprentice to a wizard that partied with Pun-Pun, Ted the Enabler, The twice-betrayer of Shar and a Warforged commoner basketweaver.
Special feat: Precocios apprentice (Alter self)
Speaks in Green

Spells:
all 0 lvl spells except from banned schools

LVL 1:
Lesser orb of fire
Enlarge self
Fist of stone
Mage armor
Grease
Ray of Enfeeblement
Backbiter
Expeditios retreat

LVL 2 (once per day only): Alter self (from precocios apprentice feat)

He usually stays in the back, letting the other party members take hits. When the BBEG is almost defeated, he just uses backbiter to make the BBEG kill himself (just like an idiot). If he is alone, he casts Mage armor first, Enfeebles the BBEG, Alters himself into something large, uses Enlarge self to make himself huge, casts fist of stone to further boost his (now) good STR score and...must I explain everything? Lets just say that he is ready to go to town.

The city of Zerhal

You are finally here; the legendary ruined city of Zerhal stands before you.
The first thing you see as you come close to its great wall is a small village right outside the main gate; you realize that you are far from the only ones that have come here.
From the looks of it there are a lot of people that can live on the adventures that pass through here.
Merchants, guards, farmers, priests, con-men and other opportunists that are more then willingly to try to get some bits of the treasures inside by providing different services to people that are brave or foolish enough to enter the ruined city.
You do not know much about this place expect from the stories and rumors.
This city where once know as “the city of magic” and was inhabited by countless of wizards.
It was by far the largest, richest and most powerful of all cities in this part of the world.
Some of the mages inside here was said to have god-like powers and no other country could challenge their might.
But then one day according to the story one day when some traveling merchants were approaching the city he saw how all the guards at the front gate where dead.
As they dared to enter the city gates all they could see was dead people, but no signs of fighting or sickness.
It seemed a catastrophe of unimaginable had taken place within the city, every single inhabitant where laying dead on the street but strangely enough it seemed they all had died a natural death.
The political consequences of this were earth-shaking. Entire empires crumbled when the city of Zerhal was removed from the political map.
Many years later when the rest of the world had recovered from this shocking event people came here for different reasons.
The horde of gold and magical items the wizards-lord is said to have had was very tempting, but other came for other reasons.
Some came to find out what had really happened inside the city and why millions of people had all died at the same time.
Most just figure that the wizards where mixing with things beyond even their control and got themselves all killed.

But the city was far from easy to explore, within the city walls countless of strange creatures seemed to have awakened and they where killing anyone that dared to enter the city.
Adventures from far and wide begun come here to face the dangers of Zerhal and to have a chance to retrieve the many treasures that where said to be there.

Now you have come here for your own reason whatever they might be and try to explore this legendary city.

It is currently summer in Ramsfield (the country the city lies within) and there are a lot of other adventures moving around in town, but the most of them are probably inside the Inn. You arrive at dawn.

Here is the (poorly drawn) map of the starting town that has been build here of the many people living of rich adventures that passes by here.

(A don't be afraid to ask me about details, I am here to help.
And yes more people can always join the game, just post your character and introduce yourself.)

((Well it looks like our time-zones are perfectly in sync with each other here:smallannoyed:.

You can still post something and I will respond to it tomorrow.))

Name: Caliel
Race: Lamia (Naga)
Profession: Shaman, Healer
Age: Unknown
Height: 6’
Tail Length (From Torso): 20’
Body Type: Strong build, as though a warrior.

Equipment: A double tipped Shortspear, weighted for balance, the weapon of his clan as well as a curved dagger. A shoulder strap messenger bag carrying a few standard healing supplies as well as personal belonging such as a spare tunic and belt. A small bag of semiprecious stones, crystals and a bit of coin.

Abilities: Slight bodyshaping abilities such as the ability to make someone’s muscles stronger for a moment, increasing their strength slightly for a while, or changing one’s features to disguise them a bit. The most he can so is to change his own tail into legs, though that takes severe concentration as well as exhaustive amounts of energy to do.
Minor healing abilities, Right now healing cuts and light wounds. It would take him quite bit of time to heal broken bones as well as the appropriate supplies.
Able to create glyphs and seals of minor power to ward areas.
Capable of very minor magics, (Think cantrips)
Shamanistic summoning though very limited due to his lack of experience.
Handy with a spear, quarterstaff and similar weapons as well as daggers and claws, but very inexperienced with swords, hammers, and other weapons.
Lamia (Naga) also have been known for their grapping capabilities, as their powerful tails have been known to crack shield with powerful slams, and rend amour in their crushing embrace.
While not nearly strong enough to do as legends say, Caliel’s tail can be quite dangerous still, lithe and agile, a powerful slam or constriction may cause serious damage to the person on the receiving end.

This list may seem a bit long, but It's only because we are asked to list everything. Most things listed here are quite minor to this character, and won't come into play.

Backstory: Caliel, also known as the Golden Prince to the Lamia of the Malir Kingdom, never could stay in one place for too long. Trained as a healer and warrior, his kind are known throughout his people as Spiriters, Te’Narri, or Shaman. Though his race is never quite trusted, once known as predators and hunters, this was long ago and there have been peaceful, though distrustful negotiations and trading between races as of late.

Description: Caliel has short dark gold hair, his tunic, often a dark red. His scales shimmer a soft gold along his hips, covering his powerful tail. He holds himself with a slight air of nobility, a strength to his poise as he glides.

Speaks in: Dark Orange

Is this alright for a character here?

“Humes… lovely.” The Half-Serpent sighed softly, gliding down the road a bit. Golden scales shimmering softly in the early sun as he made his way down the main road. Glancing over at the small shops about, he don’t take much notice of a few odd looks he gets as he glides towards the inn. Knowing that he may be less than welcome here, he moved cautiously. Though, the road here was long, and he was a bit tired. Turning, he made his way towards the inn, a bit of rest wouldn’t hurt. After all, the ruins have been here forever, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

Immediately when you are going near the merchants tents you feel a dozen of suspicious eyes watching you.
Inside the tents you can see people sitting there watching their valuable goods.
It is going to be hard to steal from those merchants, they seems to know their trade.
From the various shops around you salesmen and saleswoman are trying to advertise their vares by yelling the loudest.

"Here come here, I got all the weapons you need to kill the monsters inside!"

"Fresh boar meat!"

It is hard to hear anything at all with so many people talking at the same time, this is like walking in a really large city.

Dem and Caliel (and also Felius Draytvun)

Even from the outside you can hear a loud buzz of voices from inside the inn, it seems to be quite crowded.
As you walk crawl/walk inside the inn you can see that most of its patrons appears to be human (or at least mostly human) but there are also a lot of them that comes from different species and races.
It will be difficult to move here without invading anyones personal space since every part of the inn is filled with people.
Most of them are apparently adventures just like you, waiting to get inside the citys walls.
You notice some guards here and there keeping a carefully watch at the inn's patrons.

Here is a poorly drawn image of the first room of the inn:

The inn is a busy place, you see a elven (or atleast half-elven) waitress running around trying to take everyones orders at the same time, it do not seems to work very well.
Behind the bar a large golem-like creature stood like a cliff in a storming sea, it seemed uneffected by the stressful environment it worked in.
Suddenly it begins to speak to you with a voice that you easily would have heard even if you where on the other side of the room.

There are a bit less patrons in the inn now, since some adventurers entered the city some time ago, you see many people around you making the final preparations before they enter the city too, but atleast the inn is less crowded.
Right now one table is unoccupied, the table closest to the door is seated by the guards and their captain, they appears to be a bit drunk.
At the table closest to the bar a two Water Genasi sits seemingly uncaring about the world around them eating some watery soup.

The halfing is dressed in what you find as stereotypical rouge clothes complete with a dark leather and a black hood over his head.
You look like a smart guy, want to know how to get into the city for free?
He looks around to see that no one is watching you.
"You see there is another way into the city, past all the guards at the main gate."
"Interested?"

Dem

I believe we got some fruits and nuts, but I suggest you buy that on the market outside instead, she lowers her voice its quite expensive in here.

Everyone

Even during this time of the day the streets are still filled with lots of people, everyone going on with their own lives. Well at least they did before they see how in the middle of the street one of them are suddenly transformed into a pile of burning ashes.
Chaos ensures as everyone is trying to get away from the horrid remains of that moments ago was a human female.
The responsible for this horrible act is quite clearly the man standing next to the pile looking down on it.
The man's body and face is completely covered in a red/yellow colored armor.
He looks around the fleeing crowd and says with a strange song-like accent:
"I have done nothing wrong! She tried to pick my pocket, she had clearly done many things wrong in her life otherwise Artaris would not have affected her!"
The guards at the gate (not the drunken ones) quickly surrounds the armored creature.
"Put down your weapons and surrender, we don't want to kill you."
"I have done nothing wrong, repeats the armored figure I go with Ataris blessing, it judged the thief guilty."
He do not seems worried at all of the guards that surrounds him, he is apparently wholly convinced that the woman deserved to die.

The guards and the waitress on the other hand seems to atleast to have some clue what is going on and takes action accordingly.
The guards tries to get out of their sorry shape and is busy donning their armors, the waitress just stand in the entrance watching the surrounded figure.

“Artaris…” He watches warily, unsure of what to do, he glides out of the way a bit.
“IT judged the thief guilty? Was this the act of the armored man, or something else protecting him?” Caliel wondered to himself, unsure what to make of the situation. There was little he could do here but watch and wait. His tail coiling beneath himself as he tried to keep out of the way.

The guards slowly advancing on the armored figure that just stands there perfectly calm like nothing has happened.
With a high-pitch voice that easily could be mistaken for the voice of a singing man he says:
"I do not want to hurt any of you, I am but a simple vessel of Artaris might."

"I don't care what you are, but here you must obey the kings laws" , says the leader of the advancing guards.
The guards suddenly stops not really want to provoke the figure into a fight after what they saw it did to that thief.
Instead the leader tires a diplomatic approach, "Listen to me, you will not get out of this alive unless you surrender yourself to us, now drop your weapons and no one will get killed."
The figure in the same calm tone responds, "I am here on a sacred mission, I am afraid I can not delay this."
And with those words flames immolates his armor and he charges against the guard in front of him.
The charging figure manages to tackle the guard before he even can react. The figure continues thought the shocked crowd that tires to avoid the flames at all cost.
A merchant that didn't react quick enough gets in the way of the burning figure and his expensive clothes catch fire.
In the chaos the guards can't do anything, the now panicked crowd is making it impossible to chase after the armored creature.

The waitress seeing the danger of the situation takes matter into her own hands, takes the bottle and gives it to you, "dose this on him, I'm getting a blanket or something that we can extinguish the fire with."
At the same time the merchant tries to put out the flames by rolling around on the ground.

Your screech makes a lot of the panicked crowd (including the guards) to stop dead in their tracks and instead try to cover their ears.
The armored figure also stops in his moments just like the rest of the people around him, but the sound do not seems to affect him much, and he seems to have already begun to recover or possible already getting used to it.

To the waitress and merchant. Have you guys ever considered becoming Magewights? You'd only be able to cast some basic spells, but you wouldn't need anywhere near as much training as a Wizard, and you'd both get a lot of mileage out of some spells (such as Mending and Prestigitation).

The armored figure stands in from of the gigantic gate, the only know entrance to the city.
From the distance it seems like he is speaking to someone but you can't hear him saying anything.
Then the flames surrounding him becomes larger, much larger and they are beginning to consume the gate itself.

"What the hell is he doing!?" you can hear the captain shout, nothing seems to be able to stop the armored figure now.
Some moments later there is a large hole in the gate, the flames were so hot that they actually melted through the entire iron gate, but yet the figure seems unharmed by them.
Rather then just spread over the whole gate as normal flame would do (if it would burn iron as easy as wood that is).
"By Legion, he is burning through all the enchantments!"
The figure then disappears inside the still burning hole in the gate.
People are still in shock of that just happend and are just standing there looking at the now destroyed gate while the guards are tyring to restore order.
