Rough choice. The cleric fight is hilarious. you gotta love the "out of special effects jokes", but the battle against Soon is quite exciting. I think I'll go with 456, just for the sake of it being the only of the five that made me laugh.

Great as Redcloak is in 456, he's even better in 459. Plus, it's official confirmation that he is, in fact, a nerd.

I'll got with 460.

I rolled a 456 on my saving throw, does that save?

The 'I totally conducted a job interview' note puts 457 over the top.

Well, IMO a fairly weak bunch this time around, but in the end I think Sabine tips it for me:

"What about the ex-paladin, do we spring her?"
"Honey, she snapped your neck"
"...I got better."

One minority vote for 458 coming right up...

Have Fun!

Good enough strips, but not as good as the previous batches, they lack something.

460. Miko's monkish conclusion leaping.

Hm... really hard choice... Most of them are quite good... the clerics battle is sooo spectacular and the fight against the paladin's is pure action. Also Miko's conclusion are... incomparable. But I think I'll go for 458 even if I don't like Nale, Thog's just great enough.

456 is gold. Cleric magic is not flashy, but it gets the job done!:smallbiggrin:

Xykon's note in 457 is one of my favorite gags, but 456 I like better overall. Dig the off-panel "whump!" when the poor hobgoblin general crash lands and the banter between him and Redcloak at the end where you can't tell if they're being sarcastic.

Was that guy seriously the highest ranked priest of the 12 gods that rule over 1/3rd of the world? I know Redcloak's powerful, but that almost seems TOO powerful. On the other hand, it's kickass, and you can't argue with the Rule of Cool.

456 No doubt, the most awesome battle of clerics EVER!

459, but they were all good. I was torn between this one and 456, but I saw 456 is currently winning, so I voted for this one. I kust like the two badass (for him :smallwink: ) RedCloak moments. :smallsmile:

459. Great art, great lines, and awesome action. This one won hands-down for me.

459 totally gets my vote. Love how confused Xykon is, and it's always hilarious to see him and Redcloak interact.

460 has some good storytelling, with the cityscape and the irony of the last two panels, but I'm more fond of 457. The totally-in-character-for-Xykon note, an equally-about-the-character-of Xykon quote from Redcloak, and a Futurama gag to boot!

:redcloak: "What Xykon wants and what's a good idea tend to diverge significantly."

459, for the line "Neither do I, I wasn't paying attention." How often does someone talk smack and point out they've got ADD all in one sentence?

Um... I have Asperger's Syndrome, which is sometimes said to have among its symptoms a tendency to take everything literally and fail to detect things like irony, and I'm pretty damn sure it was supposed to be sarcastic.

I think if any strip challenges 456, it'll be 459, though all of the strips will certainly get votes.

Well, this was not only correct it was indeed a challenge; this looks to be decided by one vote after the battle behind 456 was a clusterbleep for most of the first page. (I hope to God I'm not influencing these votes...)

Incidentially, I'm a little surprised no one mentioned one of my favorite parts of 459:
:xykon:: So, any ideas on how we should fight 'Stache Boy, whoever he is?
:redcloak:: Soon.
:xykon:: I'd prefer to know right now, thanks.
:redcloak:: No, I mean that's his name.
:xykon:: What is?
:redcloak:: Soon!
:xykon:: Look, if you don't want to tell me his name yet, fine...

460 was mired in the middle of the pack, which does not bode well for 461. 462 and 463 are very plot-important and 462 has some merits of its own while 463 appeals to the museum crowd. 464 appeals to Miko fans far more than 461 and has its own importance, while people who just want the funny will probably favor 465 (including those who voted for 457).

464 is probably the early favorite but some combination of 462, 463, and/or 465 will give it a real battle, assuming they don't beat each other up.

Redcloak's deadpan response is sardonic, but I'm not as sure about the general. If he were being sarcastic, that seems rather disparaging of the Supreme Leader -- who just put his own life on the line for the sake of the hobgoblins. It WAS a pretty fair display of magical ABILITY, it just also looked monumentally silly. But making all those rolls would be a rather tense situation, played out at home. Thus I can take his comments at face value, or not, if Redcloak doesn't mind his subordinates being a bit snarky just as he himself is to Xykon (and maybe the general's annoyed at the total lack of warning given before Redcloak dismissed the elephant).

As I don't believe it will change the result, I'd like to register a late vote for #460, although it was a tough call with the first two strips too.

In the end it is the simple things that win my vote - in this case the neat way the Giant draws and zooms in on the crack in the bars. That was just enough to tip it over the edge for 3 scripts that were hard to choose between!
