I was going through stuff earlier today, and basically, was wondering how fast a build can be (land speed wise).

Here are my thoughts: suffer the +1 level adjustment of the catfolk, level up as a barbarian 1/ehlonna 9, with the character trait speedy, and eventually take levels in sacred fist, get boots of striding and springing, and take the dash feat. Simple:

So, Catfolk Barbarian 1/Cleric of Ehlonna 8/Sacred Fist 10.

Final base land speed: 115 feet. 145 feet for a while, with the celerity domain granting expeditious retreat.

My question: does this actually work?!

Speed by level: (buy the boots at, shall we say, level five, dash at level 9?)

-
60 (catfolk[40]+barbarian[10]+quick[10])
70 (+celerity[10])
70
80 (+boots[10]
85 (+dash[5])
85
85
85
85
85
85
95 (+3rd level sacred fist[10])
95
95
105 (+6rd level sacred fist[10])
105
115 (+8rd level sacred fist[10])
115

Add in Wild Talent and Speed of Thought as soon as possible... That's another 10ft move speed right there.

Brilliant, where can I find them? And they're feats, I presume? Would this guy meet any pre-reqs?

They're feats in the Expanded Psionics Handbook (or SRD :smalltongue:). Prerequisite for Speed of Thought is Wisdom 13, so you should be fine.

Wild Talent makes you Psionic, so you can take Speed of Thought. Speed of Thought gives you +10 [insight] to speed.

Speaking of the XPH, Boots of Skating (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#bootsofSkating) make you faster than Boots of S. and S. Unless you plan on going uphill a lot.

Nice.

The next step is to convert this speed into a several-hundred-point bonus on your jump check.

And the final step is to use this check to turn people into your fanatical followers (http://forums.gleemax.com/archive/index.php/t-943738.html).

The last time this came up, I think Xeph were the best base race. And if the Sacred Fist move bonus works the same way as the monk bonus, it's an enhancement bonus, and won't stack with most boots.

Does the scout's move increase stack with the barbarian's?

You must wield a double spear and name this character "Dragoon."

Hmmm.. There's a tactical feat in Tome of Battle that gives +30 speed if you didn't move much in the previous round. Fairly steep prereqs, though- two diamond mind maneuvers (can be got with a dip in Warblade or Swordsage, of course...) and Unnerving Calm (which itself needs 1 rank in Concentration). Not sure if it's worth it...

Cobalt Dash (or some similar name) is an Incarnum feat that basically gives you another +5 run speed. Furthermore, if you take one or two other feats that give you Essentia (such as the one that gives you two extra essentia) you can further invest essentia to have this feat increase your speed more at later levels.

No, the final step is to convince the leaders of all the countries you possibly can to attend the campaign world's version of the Olympics.

The final step is to convince everyone that crazy mad jumping skills make you a superhero.

There's a precedent:

Hawkman.

Also, would the Scout speed bonus stack with all of this?

No, the final step is to convince the leaders of all the countries you possibly can to attend the campaign world's version of the Olympics.

That way the majority of the world watching said olympics turns fanatic for you.

For some reason Scout's fast movement is enhancement bonus so it doesn't stack with Sacred Fist.

To add to the build:
- Divine Vigor (CD): spend turn/rebuke undead for some temporary HP and untyped +10 feet to speed,
- Animal Devotion (CC): (up to) +30 feet sacred bonus
- Grace (Spell Compendium, 3rd level spell): +2 sacred to DEX and +10 untyped bonus to your base land speed

Assuming Book-Of-Vile Darkness is allowed, get yourself exposed to that 'Warp Touch' stuff and roll well. on one result, your legs become freakishly muscled, and you gain 10ft to your movement speed.

Assuming, you know, that you don't melt or have all your limbs replaced by tentacles instead, obviously.

Curse you solo, you beat me. The rest of you can give up. Solo won the thread.

'Course, you can still improve it by adding Leadership cheese and doing the "Everybody Grapple each other and push each other halfway across the world in one round!" trick.

You should look into Varag (Monster Manual IV) instead of catfolk. It's +2 LA and 3 racial HD, but its base speed is 60' instead of 40'. You'll be at 95' instead of the 85' of your build at level 8. You also get Run as a racial bonus feat.

You could try being a Centaur monk and wearing horseshoes of speed.
