For me, it has to be the MiG-31 "Firefox". That is one great aircraft.

Airwolf is second.

Wedge Antilles X-wing.

thier's only two craft that were present at both death starts destruction, and this was one of them.

failing that, the Millennium Falcon.

why, yes, i do like star wars, why do you ask?

VF-1 Valkyrie.

Not only it's cool by itself, You got a two-for-one deal as it's also a giant mecha.

I can't decide on a specific example right now, but Crimson Skies are chock-full of awesome fictional aircrafts.

The steampunk planes in Skygunner were pretty cool. They were biplanes. With huge muskets attached.

Da Ork Fighta-Bomba of course. I mean what other aircraft actually drops manned bombs?

VF-22s Sturmvogel. (http://mahq.net/mecha/macross/macross7/vf-22s.htm)

Even if you remove its ability to transform into a mech, it's got stealth, supercruising, and missile swarms.

The Goblin Doom Diver might stretch the definiton of an aircraft a bit but I stil think it deserves a mention.

The Dai-X from Star Fleet. OK, it was technically three separate craft that joined together to form one huge robot, but who's counting? :smallwink:

Talyn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talyn#Talyn). Living ship, developed mental problems, then died a heroic death.
...Technically a space ship, but someone brought up Serenity, so I figured all bets were off. (Besides, Talyn can do atmo.)

The White Stars from Babylon 5 are among my favorite ships. Not only do they look cool, they also... do cool stuff.

Speaking of Babylon 5, the shadow vessels are also kinda neat. Something possibly cooler are the hybrid earth battleships/shadow vessels created by Clark. It took a lot to take them down.

And that's not even mentioning the planet killers...

Easy question. The ships of the imperium, as featured in Battlefleet Gothic. They're space-going cathedrals, complete with pillars, glass windows with religious imagery, domes and stuff. how much more awesome can any flying craft get? And they chant prayers to their plasma engines. GRIMDARK navy, here we go!

Praying to your engine seems like an odd thing to do. Unless of course it has a tendency to fail dramatically.

Anyway, I've never liked the goth style from WH40K. To me it just looks silly.

the second i saw this thread THAT was my first thought...

Have you ever thought about the scale of that thing? I mean think about it Air Force One landed on it, have you any idea how long the runway would have to be for a Boeing VC-25 to land? Unless they invoked the correct but rarely (if ever) regulation that any aircraft carrying the president has the call sign Airforce One and he arrived by chopper.

No love for Arwings? They can do barrel rolls! (and somersaults and they can use the brakes, but they aren't as popular)

Zeppelins. Not blimps, zeppelins.

And don't even try to tell me they existed. I've seen the stock footage, so fake looking.

Personally I love the helicarriers from Marvel. Also, seconded for vipers from battlestar galactica, but mostly because of their space combat feel (no damping force).

Just so everyone knows the difference between spacecraft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacecraft) & aircraft... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft)

And my vote for favorite fictional aircraft goes to the ADFX-01 Morgan. (http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/ADFX-01/02_Morgan)

Anyone every played X-COM Apocalyspe? Pretty much all the aircraft in that rocks, right down to the Phoenix Hovercars and the nimble hoverbikes, but especially the big stuff you research later on; supped up with nasty firepower... Good times ^^

I wouldn't call them badass considering that they where all taken down by a single computer virus. One should think that a civilization capable of interstellar flight should be able to construct some kind of internal security feature into their ships.

They used Microsoft. The reason they really wanted to screw us over was because Bill Gates unloaded Win NT on them.

That said, I'd like to second Castle Wulfenbach, and vote for the SR71 Blackbird. It's real, and it's cool.
