Uploading images? (help please)

Perhaps it's because my computer is eight years old but I'm having problems uploading images. I'm sure I'm doing everything right but the picture does not appear in the post. Can anyone help?

You can't directly upload images onto the forums.

To clarify kpenguin's answer, you have to have the image saved on your computer, go to an image hosting site (I use Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com), though there are others), and then you put the pictures on this site using the uploaded image's URL from your hosting site.
