View Full Version : Finding URL for Latest Strip

I've recently discovered these wonderful strips and am particularly enamored of Erfworld. As such, I have a script which opens pages in my browser for my daily reading and would like to add the latest Erfworld to that list, but there's no "Latest Strip" URL that I can see. The latest is erf0107.html at the moment, but seems to increment on all the pages when a new one is added.

While I could attempt to calculate the latest page, this seems fraught with peril and a simpler solution is just to open the first page and hit the "latest strip" button when I get to it, which pretty much negates the preloading aspect of the automation.

Or is there some simple way to determine the name of the latest page? I've considered using curl and parsing the first page for the button URL, but once again, it would be fragile and more work than I want to do just to read a silly comic. ;)

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

It works for me.

I read quite a few webcomics myself, but I actually just memorize the first 2 letters of the main page and let Firefox remember the rest for me...

If you're okay with RSS feeds, you could also use these...
