I'm about to buy the Drangonlance Campaign Setting and Savage Species. the problem is i'm buying them online so I can't look through them. first, was DCS made for 3.0? if so, was it ever updated to 3.5? and if i can't get a 3.5 one, will i still be able to use it with other 3.5 books? SS i know has both 3 and 3.5 versions, so last question goes for it aswell

thanks in advance

I don't know anything about SS, but as far as I know all the 3.x Dragonlance stuff is indeed 3.5. It was right on the cusp of the change from 3.0 to 3.5 (published in August 2003), but having read through most of the campaign setting book it seems like it's all 3.5 or just easily adaptable (just changing DRs or something). The various supplements written by Sovereign Press (including the War of the Lance sourcebook, my personal favorite) are all 3.5, I believe, and are probably worth looking into depending on your era of play.

Savage Species is a 3.0 book, and there was never a 3.5 update/version.

That being said, SS is probably the 3.0 book used most often in a 3.5 game; it carries over to the new revision well enough.

No it isn't. It's a 3.25 book. It was released part way through the update and has elements from both editions.

There's no such thing as "3.25". Books are either 3.0 or 3.5. Granted, the books released right before the 3.5 revision was launched are extremely friendly to the new revision, but they're still 3.0 books.

If it's got to be one or the other, then it's 3.5, since it uses 3.5 rules rather than 3.0 rules (face/reach instead of space, etc.). Of course, some of the rules updates didn't make it in, which is the case with many 3.0-3.5 transitional (AKA "3.25") books.
