I recently acquired and watched the Sharpe box set, I am interested in what other people think of the Sharpe TV movies.

I love Sharpe! I have the box-set as well. Not only are they great stories and characters, but they're very accurate historically speaking.

And Obadiah Hakeswill has to be one of the best villains ever, in my opinion.

Well, all save the one with Sharpe's long lost brother. That one sucks.

And the one with the Aztec cult !
That was just plain stupid

I love them, despite one of my friends deriding them as being for "middle aged women". Reasonably accurate, quite educational with lots of manly-men doing manly-men things with muskets and cannon. What more does anyone want?

This thread is suddenly relevant to my interests.

The TV series was good (if a bit dated).

The books are much better though - the TV series have toned them down a lot.

The books are better, but the TV version is still very good. It gets two thumbs up from me.

I'm still waiting for Sharpe to betray Wellington. Oh come on, he's a Sean Bean character, he has to betray the real heroes! :smallwink:

I love those movies so much. Plus Sean Bean is HOT! I just love listening to him talk.
