I vowed, in 2001, that I would never catch up with moore's law, so I should wait until 2010, and get the most advanced robot that is on the market. Well that date is coming up suprisingly fast now, and I need to start looking. What's the most advanced robot now?

Depends on what kind of robot you want. If you want a walker, Bigdog.

If you want a talker, or other sort of anthropomorphic robot, Japan.

They all cost millions, though.

Is there a "pleasure model" out yet? That really is the most important question.

Not sure exactly. Asimo has gotten the most press, I suppose. Or the ones by Sony... the dancing ones. Though they are really small. Toyota has made those musical ones.

Or... let's see the Boston Dynamics BigDog is pretty dang neat is you are in need of a pack animal. There's all sorts of robot pets nowadays. Like the robot fish! Or you could get a Roomba. Or a Hubo FX-1.

Or maybe you were looking more along the lines of the Actroid robot. :smallamused:

I think we all know the answer.

Think about it folks: it's reached the point where this thing can stand up again after being knocked down. Once there are robots we can't knock down, it's only a step to ones we can't kill, and from there ones that can kill us are practically guaranteed.

Serriously. Talking robots that fight each other. Plus, whenever you start a fight, this crazy referee shows up no matter where you are. How cool is that?

What do you get when you cross a Roomba with a John Deere?

A great way to patrol the perimeter of your survivalist compound. (http://www.irobot.com/sp.cfm?pageid=141)

Technically it's "on the market," though I don't know what Larnman's budget is like.

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. Did I say overlords? I meant protectors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5M9UTlDb10).
