Hey guys...

If I took the "armor = damage reduction"variant and included the "armor transform damage into non-lethal damage" variant, would that unbalance the game?

Both variants can be found here.http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/unearthedDefence.html

It might mess up what tiny ass balance there was.
Doesn't subdual damage work like; When your subdual damage meets or exceeds your current exp you fall unconcious?

It would most likely just make melee characters a little more durable. That's alright; they're far enough behind that you would have to give them a number of other boosts in addition to significantly alter the game's balance. It'll also make healing after physical fights a little cheaper because of how healing non-lethal damage works. If your groups already make use of cheap and/or free healing techniques (like using wands of Cure Light or Lesser Vigor), that'll make effectively no difference. If they rely more on actual spell slots spent, it'll let the Cleric's healing budget stretch more and either extend the fighters' effective adventuring day or free slots for more useful things.

I'd play a warforged for sure.

Do that and you'd be nigh unstopped and A God Are You (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AGodAmI).

Still a great idea all around though.
