Well, I checked out the Airbase, which was...fun. But I didn't have anything in mind, no.

It's... busy. It's full of eagles and dire eagles which attack you upon entry, but apart from that there's a nice river on an island and the airbase itself, which I didn't manage to check out. Do you wanna go back up?

Great let's go then! Etesian walks off to the teleportation room and goes up to the Airbase, making another bubble/forcefield of air around her again.

On arrival, I make a mad dash for the safety of the hangar. Once inside, I wait for Etesian and Tempest.

Tempest follows as well.This is quite impressive.

Etesian doesn't go straight to the hangar. She seems to be having fun in fighting off the birds. She retaliates at their dives and swoops, which bounce harmlessly off her bubbles, with sonic screams and blasts of wind. If any of the two are near, they will see a grin form on her face and her eyes go completely steel grey. She rises off the ground and continues to fight the birds a little off the ground.

Are you sure trying to kill them all is a good idea. I wonder what eagle tastes like?

Get in here! Leave the poor birds alone; we'll work on some way of calming them! I telepathize to Etesian.

After that, I walk to the locker room, where I start to get changed into pilot gear.

Etesian's head snaps towards them, her eyes have cleared. Oh, yeah, sorry. She drops abruptly to the ground and runs towards the hangar. I just... got carried away, that's all. She says, dazed and puts a hand to her head.

Are you okay? Tempest tries to cast Lesser Vigour on Etesian.

I'm fine, just a little tired. She shakes her head. Actually, I don't think this is such a great idea for me. I'll head back to the base and lie down a little, I'll see you guys later.

I walk out of the locker room in pilot's gear, and begin looking for trainer aircraft. I'm just looking for a two-seater right now.

I can't sadly. Do you think I'll really need one? Alternatively, would Air Bubble do? (I have ascroll with me from when I went to Masato's demi plane; I didn't know if any of it would be underwater).

Well, without gas masks, we can't go above 6000 feet. Is that okay with you? I walk into the little sectioned off portion of the hangar containing arming and fueling trucks, and drive one out to fuel the Eurofighter.

You shouldn't need to use the air bubble. Oh wait; come to think about it, are Fennec Foxes acclimatized for high altitude? If so, then we could probably go up to about 9000 feet.

I finish fueling the Eurofighter, (That was quick :smalltongue:) and drive the truck back into its spot. I then come out with an armaments truck, and start loading 17mmx145mm holy ammunition into the autocannon.

I don't think we are. My home desert was quite a flat area, so we're probably not designed to live in high areas. It may be wise to stay at relatively low altitudes.

I load up several Meteor air-to-air missiles, a couple Storm Shadow air-to-surface missiles, two Brimstone anti-armour air-to-ground missiles, attach a LITENING targeting pod, and finally, two HOPE glide bombs.

I climb up, and put on my helmet. I then test the radio (Randy to HALO HQ. Can we have a flight following?), and avionics, and finally the controls.

Once satisfied, I press a button, and the hangar door in front of us opens, at least partially. It's just big enough to let us out, without being big enough that birds fly in.

Okay, I'm taking off, ready?. This'll probably make your stomach a bit squeamish the first time.

I run the engine start cycles, (don't you love that slight gasoline smell that enters a cabin for a second or two when that happens? :smallbiggrin:) and then taxi us out onto the runway. I then slowly accelerate us off the runway, no reach-mach-1-before-100-feet stuff.

Radar-50 Nautical Miles... Confirm.

I then start taking us in a slight bank orbiting the island, so that we can see it.

There was obviously life at some point on the island, since there are visible ruins on it. They look like ancient Greek meets Aztec.

If Tempest is tech-savvy, he'll notice that the GPS is giving us the same coordinates it gave us for the underwater ruins.

I'm preoccupied with looking at the island, so I don't realize, though.

Man, I wish I took a helicopter out. I'd land if I could.

Oh, hello Sam. I've found an island that I don't think was there earlier. As crazy as it sounds, it does take up the same coordinates as some ruins I found underwater a while back.

Pictures will begin flashing through a screen that had been dead until now in front of Tempest, at the rate of three per second. The island below most certainly is not uninhabited. There are several types of Devils scurrying about the ruins, seemingly setting up camp. It looks like mostly Chain Devils, some Bearded Devils, and one or two Horned Devils. There is a daemonic portal that is only half-captured in one picture, that seems to be held open, allowing Devils in and out.

In the strategy room, a computer in the corner that has also been dead until now comes to life, and starts receiving and storing the recon photos. Another computer in the airbase, in a back room beneath the control tower does the same.

Tempest, what do you see on the screen in front of you and to your right?

Oh good grief.....It looks like there's a lot of Demons taking up residance on the island, and they seem to be coming out of a portal. Randy, get us out of here before they spot us!

Tempest casts lesser Vigour on himself to counter the effects. That didn't feel too good at all. Thank goodness I have healing spells. Thanks for the flight, Randy, but I need to look up those creatures in the library. They could be a danger to everyone. Tempest teleports to the library. Hey Sam, you'll have to help me figure out how to get the photos out of this plane's hard drive, unless they automatically do so. Apparently I got some nice photos of the daemons on their vacation island.

They've got a couple... Horny... Or was that horned?... Devils holding up a portal to some other plane. They're getting Bearded Devils to act as workers, changing the alignment of the ruins to more suit them.

Man I sound smart, and I'm just quoting a book.
