Why can't we have custom titles?

Has this been addressed before? I see no reason not to, and I think it'd be fun.


These titles are there for fun only and post counts mean nothing here. Don't treat anyone any differently because of their post count and please don't post to increase your count.

I predict it's either because
1) The code for the board is set up so only mods or admins can give custom titles, and having the mods change peoples titles would be a massive undertaking.
OR
2) Because they said so.

Well, some people do like to be measured by post count as well. If it could be possible to pick any custom title except those that are given post count titles higher than your post count...

It has been addressed before, and that's specifically why that sticky is there.

Those titles are part of the general 'theme' of the site, something that The Giant has chosen to include a little flavour and fun to the forums. The one and only reason they are linked to post count is because that is the only way it could be done.
