So, I'm working on a campaign, most of which is going to take place in one city. Now, though the players technically have accsess to an Omnistocked item shop in the form of the organization they work for, buying complex stuff from there will take a good deal of time (the message has to get shipped around). However, the city in question has three markets the players can buy magic items from. One market is in Koboldtown (Rough neighborhood populated largely by monsterous humaniods), one market is by the docks (more or less the main market), and one market is in a rich area called The Gates.

Anyway, what I want to do is have a table for each market that I can roll on to determine what is for sale that day in terms of magic items. This is under the assumption that the vast majority of the things at the market will be mundane stuff, so this table is only magic items.

I guess what I'm looking for is suggjestions on what magic items may be for sale at the various markets, the stuff they sell at the Koboldtown market wouldn't be the same as the stuff they sell at the Gates market, and maybe somthing to do with the price depending on where it's being sold.

Cityscape has a few suggestions if that helps.

Maybe Koboldtown should sell magic weapons and armor for it's rough neighborhood.

Perhaps a certan store can sell small non combat things, like dancing lights wands or tiny one shot stones that make a silent image of predetermined things(since the choice is gone and it has one charge they'd be cheap)

Maybe one store could sell constructs, like a fantasy robot maid, or a cart that pulls itself.

Another could Sell transportation, like those figurines that turn into boats and carts.

Another might be a seedy dealer that gives you items that give stealth and security.

Something sinister should be going on at "The Gates". With a name like that there's got to be something sinister going on :P

The front operation is that it sells convenience magic items. Things that make stuff easier. Dishs that wash themselves, a bowl warded against peasants (ingrates having the audacity to eat the same food as their betters), bags of holding (for storing all that gold of yours), that kind of thing.

Underneath however, they sell really scary stuff. A magic potion, which brings it's drinkers nightmares to life. An iron maiden that transforms anyone placed inside of it into a single gold coin. A note book that kills whoevers name is written on it (sorry, couldn't resist. Don't actually use that one)

One, or both of the other magic stores could also secretly be controlled by the scary Noble shop. Even it's employees might not be aware of this.

Well, the thing is that the Docks and Koboldtown places are not a single shop, each is a large marketplace. The idea is that only a few things few sale on any given day will be magic items of any use to the PC's. The Gates shop may be a single store though (Call it the Oddities Emporium or somthing). The name "The Gates" is supposed to refer to the gated compounds there, where the various powerful merchant families live, but maybe it had a different origin lost to time...Hmmm
