Well, this is the thread for the Sons of Gods campaign.

Enjoi!

To start off, you're all in the city of Ravenwall. This is a large city, but not too huge.

Feel free to use a little freeform for now.

One thing, at the first post of each day, I would like our spellcasters to say which spells they have prepared. On the post that you do, please don't edit it.

So, go on.

Dobble Bore decided he would speak with his familiar, "The Toad". "Ribbitmeister, how are you today? I was wondering when our teammates would get here. So, maybe we should think about something to talk about ourselves. Have any of those annoying Behemoth gnats been trying to eat you?"

(and so it begins)

Dobble Bore is sitting on the bench backed up against a building. It is in front of a crowded street.

You hear yells in the distance, and when you turn to see, you see a group of three men being chased by a dozen or so of the city guards. The men are dressed in normal cloths, and have no regognizable marking. With a trained eye, you see that all three of them have knives and daggers hidden within the folds of their cloths.

The fugitives have a good 20 yard lead on the guards, and are on a path that could easily be intercepted by you. What do you do?

'Bout time I got here,' thought Baxter as here stolled through a crowded street. He had been traveling to Ravenwood for a week now from his the minor village he had just visited on a job. He had been given a job of taking down some goblin bandits, and after paying of the goblins, he left as soon he got paid. Baxter laughed as he thought about the money in his money pouch and how he swindeled those humans. Walking down the crowded street, he saw three men being chased by what seemed to city guards. Thinking this was the perfect opportunity to score some good rep with the city guard, Baxter drew his bow and ran towards the men so he could get in range to land a serious blow.

Kraggi Ironfoundersson

The young dwarf waddles through the streets, weighed down by gear and especially a thick brown cloak. His red beard contrasts this nicely, flying out in odd angles from his ruddy face. His arms are bare, and covered in scars.

((I assume that I can see this fight?))

Kraggi spots the scuffle in the streets, but he does nothing save watch. Not my problem, he thinks.

Walm
Walm, reposing in a covered area outside a tavern, perceives the flight and the struggle, but, as he does not know anyone involved or recognize voices, is hard-pressed to tell who's who, and thus who's a criminal and who's not. He leaves his drink and a tip on the table and gets up, moving towards the fight but still staying out of its immediate area.

I assume that Baxter opens fire upon the fugitives.

Bravo to Armin, that really couldn't have gone more smoothly.

Baxter fires an arrow at one of the fugitives, but it misses.

Armin begins casting.

The fugitives don't even notice the arrow, and continue running.

The guards glance over, suprised at the turn of events, but continue to rush foreward.

All three of the fugitives fall to the ground, asleep.

End of combat.

The guards go to them and take them, dragging them away.

A guard, seemingly the captain looks at the two men on the street, and motions to Baxter to come as he makes his way towards Armin.

"What would you say to a proposition?" He starts, speaking to Armin.

"We are in dire need of people of your talent." He says, motioning to Armin, but ignoring Baxter.

"Would you be interested in working with us?" He says to Armin.

He turns to Baxter.

"You seem like a hardy fellow ready to keep up the law. Would you be interested in a position in the city guard?"

He says, noticably less excited then when he was talking to Armin.

Pirolestan finally arrives at the city known as Ravenwall. This is his first time out of Callaban. It is a strange site indeed. While walking through the streets, Pirolestan doesn't really say a whole lot, he just soaks in the scenery. He eventually rounds a corner and witnesses a mage casting sleep on a group of 3 men. Now why would he do that? Pirolestan receives his answer as he sees, what he can only assume are city officials, chasing the 3 men. While the officials are speaking to the mage, Pirolestan walks up to him and interrupts. "So you are a magic user as well are you? Are you learning how to protect something as well?"

I can cause thunder to obey me and to even undo the magic of mature sorcerers, but most people my age of the Halfling race can't even use any magic at all. Those halflings that even become moderately powerful as I am are revered as wizard geniuses. I have to find out if I am safe, either for others or even if I am secure. Its particularily worrisome, because I suffer from the same lack of concentration from any other halfling. "

As he stuggeled through the now dissapating crowed, Baxter felt a blow to the stomach, looking down, he noticed he ahd walked straight into a dwarf, and a violent and unkept one at that. Not wanting to start a fight with the city guard so close, Baxter quickly responded, "Sorry about that. I'm Baxter, and I didn't mean to offend you. I'm going to a bar, how about I go buy you a drink as an appology."

"Hello. I heard your conversation with the guard. It is odd--you have too much magic, while my species has too little, and is marginalized as a result of our lack of power. Perhaps it's the gods' way of balancing things.

How are you planning to find the source of your "skill?" In this city, or travelling elsewhere?"

"True, these humans do have a lack of hospitaltity, but they more than make up in their ability to give away money, from contests to tricking them to just leaving it out in the open were anybody could just take it," Baxter said with a laugh. As they continued down the croded street, the found a rather dank pub, roaring with load noises and sounds of drunks even though it was just a few hours past noon. Figuring this would be a place we he could get some info on this town, and possibly get a job, Baxter suggested to the dwarf, "How about we go to that pub, it looks like we could have soom fun there, um... "Alright Kraggi, after you," replied Baxter, following the dwarf into the bar. As he walked into the bar, he noticed a large amount of drunks, some drinking themselves to sleep, some singing a badly off key dwarven fight song, others actually in a fight, and yet in all of this, no one caring. Laughing at the oddity of it all, Baxter thought, 'Guess the citites are as wild as the say back in the woods-you'd never see somethng like this back home! If the rest of the city is anything like this, I could rich be the end of the month.' Looking for a place to sit down, he waited until two seats were opened, one by a drunk just falling off and not getting back up, the other's occupant getting punched and thus joining the small bar fight. Taking their seats at the pub counter, Baxter called to the bartender, "Two mugs of ale! And none of the human made sutff, we'd like actuall alchohal, not that moose urine you call ale!"

Perhaps you are "knowing" in a way other than most "know" what they have learned, and do not realize it?

I once crossed paths with a Gith named Dak'kon who spoke at some length on knowing... Although I didn't understand much of what he said, I learned some about the nature of things from him.

Perception and knowing are strange to dicuss and hard to comprehend--I have learned this since I left my home for the lands of the sighted. Knowledge and how it is arrived at is flexible."

*three dwarven ales later for Baxter* "An' another t'ing, I don't get why t'esh humans are sho obeshed 'bout their gods. I on't get 'em, since when have they done any t'ing for us? T'ere are still orcs ever where, giagantic shpiders in my foresht, and thats fer shtartersh," ranted Baxter, clearly drunk. While he had plenty of experiences with dwarven ale, being an elf made him highly perceptable to getting drunk, fast. Though Baxter was usally quick to sober up, it typically took him a couple mintues after he stoped drinking, something not on his agenda. Trying to get another drink of his fourth ale, Baxter lost his balance and fell of his stool, to the amusement of those around him. While thinking of a way to get back up on his stool, something suddenly block out Baxter's light source. Elven senses kicking in, Baxter suddenly was able to make out what was blocking the light.

It was a rather large human, towering over where Baxter had fallen, a menacing look on his face. Well mucled and tan, along with a scaqggely brown beard going down to hid stomach, with animal pelts making up his clothing, he was clearly inembrieated, and aggitated. "What you say 'bout my god Elfie!?" the giant of a man roared.

"Hey, can you answer me a question? Are you man?" questioned the drunken Baxter, a sinister idea lying just behind the wors he spoke.

The large man, cleary upset with having his masculinity called into question, bellowed, "O' course I'm a man, you stupid lit-" He never got to finish his sentence, because as soon as he confirmed his masculinity, Baxter's boot went straight into his groin. Roaring in pain, as soon as he bent over, Baxter grabbed his beard, put his feet against the mans chest, and pulled, flipping the man over the bar.

Standing up triumphently, Baxter exclaimed, "Anyone else want someone!?"
