link to an individual post

Y'know, it's odd that I don't know how to do something as simple as this despite being lurking around here for a while... but for some reason, I have no idea how to make a link that directs the clicker to an individual post instead of the thread. Could someone explain maybe please?

If you click the post number of the post in question, you can get the url for the post by itself.

For example, your post in this thread: www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4432567&postcount=1 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4432567&postcount=1)

Or, if you want to show what else is in the thread, edit the "showpost" portion of the URL so that it is "showthread", like so:
www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4432567&postcount=1 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4432567&postcount=1)

Or, to have it open in the same browser window, just use the number indicated by the "p" value and the [post] tags thusly:

Which yields:
