Linear guild: Quirky miniboss squad, goldfish poop gang, or Rival turned evil?

Which Trope would you say fits them the best? Personally, i'd put them as a quirky miniboss squad myself. They haven't had a truly rape the dog moment yet (since Nale failed to kill Haley), and, while showing suprising effectiveness, lack the brute force needed to be a true Main villian.

that being said, they still have almost claimed success, and prove to be quite dangerous, making them rise far above the ranks of a goldfish poop squad.

The Quirky Miniboss Squad supposedly works for the Big Bad.
Since the LG doesn't, they are a Goldfish Poop Gang, although a relatively succesful one.
Rival Turned Evil has nothing to do with the LG.

Edit: Although I just noticed the LG is listed as a Quirky Miniboss Squad.
Tv tropes is fun and all but about as consistent as a thing that is quite inconsistent.

The Linear Guild DID work for Xykon in their first appearance, making them a textbook Quirky Miniboss Squad. That they then dropped the association with Xykon doesn't really change their status.

Hmmm. Yeah, i guess they do fit a team rocket model; however, they just don't strike me as being that inconsequential. True, their plots are petty, but their intentions and execution are still pretty effective.




However, their consistent losses of 4th and 5th party members does seem to cut into their credibility.

No rape the dog moment? We saw Nale do more evil in the comic then Xykon. He killed over 200 civilians just to make a trap for his brother and wanted to kill the rest of the party and kill Haley in her most vulnerable moment just to make Elan suffer even more (and because he enjoy it). Even though he didnt manage to do it, its still rape the dog as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, they are obviously a quirky miniboss squad. The fact that they are just three right now definitly doesnt make them a Team Rocket since Nale can recruit lots of new members easely and the main reason he doesnt is because he doesnt want any new member right now (or at least, he didnt back in the tower with Miko).

It took a prophecy (red strike true) to beat them the first time. The fight in Cliffport was a Xanatos gambit which was totally succesfull and then it took Elan evasion by tricking Thog to beat them the third time. They are way too successfull to be Goldfish poop or Team rocket. But, even though they are really a Quirky miniboss squad, they can be other things too. And they are Psycho Rangers (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ThePsychoRangers) first and foremost.

They don't fit Team Rocket simply because they're far too effective. (And the Linear Guild really is just three people; the others are just temporary hangers-on.)
