When do you guys think that we, as a gaming community, accept 4e as the standard and assume that any gaming thread is 4e unless stated otherwise like we now do with 3.5?

When will [3.5] tags become more frequent?

Never? Honestly the tags are a good idea and should be used for most threads.

Agreed. The tags serve to quickly and easily allow me (and, I presume, others) to scan down the topics and focus on the systems that interest me. That way, I don't waste my time with stuff like WoD or Exalted, but can concentrate on games I care about.

At a time when the forums can crash for no reason at all at any time of the day or night, I don't want to spend a lot of time here. Therefore, the tags help me to not, in fact, waste that time.

Agree with Tippy and Swordguy above. The bracketed tags (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82938) save having to wade through threads concerning a system you have no interest in (be it 3E, 4E, BRP, WFRP, whatever). They're a time-saving device and a good idea.

As for when 4E will become GITP's totemic preferred system and obviate the need for 4E tags; well, I doubt that will happen any time soon. Too many people have looked hard at 4E and gone broccoli dog (http://wealsoran.com/music/uploaded_images/images_do_not_want-741689.jpg) at it. I don't think these 3E Protestants will be conforming to the new One True Way any time soon. :smallamused:

They'll begin disappearing when we start getting new forum members who have never played anything by 4E.

My opinion is in line with the concensus (for once). The [tags] are a good idea that should have been implemented long ago. If you ask me, the best thing I've seen come out of 4th Edition so far is the use of [tags].

Also, as a side note, this is my favorite forum, & the only one that I post to with any regularity. It is also the most unstable one I've seen, with outages & slowdown unseen on many less worthwhile forum. Mabye it's just a trade-off, but it is regretable.

Lastly, let's not forget our free-spirited friends who play [FUDGE], the system to use when you find WoD too structured & crunch-heavy.

Maybe when the [4.5] or [5.0] tag becomes commonplace?

personally, i think the dicetion with 4E might reach a point where people start playing other games more often and then we would have nothing but tags

I like the tags... I'm just waiting for some of the topics to cool down so that the [4e] tag looks less like a target.
